Scott caught Huey Lewis and the News singing the national anthem before the big niners game. I can't find that one on youtube but apparently they've done it before. Best rendition ever, yes, including Whitney

They really seem to put some thought into their performance, shocking to see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN0iKBnn8Ac
The best anthem rendition I've ever seen was when Mo Cheeks, then-coach of the Portland Trailblazers, walked to center court to save a panic-strickened teenager from her complete mental block and helped her through it, causing the fans to join in. It used to be that the entire audience sang the anthem together at sporting events and certain other ceremonies. Can you imagine if we never stopped doing that? How weird would that be?
I caught another unexpectedly awesome rendition in November at a high school basketball tournament. The P.A. announcer did it himself, and his voice was amazing in its range. He could've sang every part in a doo-wop band from the ultra-deep lows to the highest falsettos. The guy went sub-Barry White, and then broke the Phillip Bailey barrier. Both extremes were used to hair-raising effect, but he never unnecessarily injected any throaty soul/gospel warble. The crowd response started with complete confusion and even some gasps of ridicule, but then became totally electric and unanimously approving.
I don't know if any cameras were rolling, but I should see if I can find it on YouTube. I know I've seen footage of alley-oops from that night, so maybe...
I guess I said that about Whitney because I thought she was lipsyncing, but the wiki on this is totally TLDR and I can't tell if she even did. Does someone want to look into this?
can someone tell me five current rap albums i should listen too? i want to start listening to more new music and i have no idea what the fuck is going on.
I'm way into A$AP ROCKY's Bad Bitches, but it's not, like, conscious or anything. J. Cole's album from last year is cheesy as hell but I still kinda dig it. -not signing my name to this.

That's pretty rad! And they had a neat work around for the crazy high note. But not better than Whitney.

I wish I could see Sha Na Na sing it.

Killer Mike's new(est) record is awesome. I'm going through a Dirty South phase right now too. Check out Adult Swim's "ATL" *free* download.

I love Killer Mike!
Nic played me a Drake song that I really liked, which surprised me.
