poor tower

Man, it's been a tough weekend for Tower. First, they lose in both the women's and men's division of the arm wrestling contest and now this: http://www.sacbee.com/content/community_news/sacramento/story/12741886p-13593568c.html
I have a bunch of work to do, so hopefully I can post later...

Re: Tower restrooms -- why the stench? I have no issues with the cosmetic upgrades... it's an old building for crying out loud. Perhaps there is more to the story than I am privvy to, but the restrooms shouldn't cost hundreds of thousands to refurbish and/or deoderize. Any comments from Tower employees?

  2. I was so angry when reading this article. I just don't understand why the city won't meet Reading halfway and offer to pay for some of the restoration costs. I feel like this theater is more important than a battle over who should foot the bill. We should all contribute because it's a really important building. I'd gladly give them my own cash just to make sure the place doesn't end up housing a Barnes and Noble. Argh.

I can't wait til the Tower closes so we can have a bunch of sentimental murals around town depicting it. That's such a classic move to find some random person who "wont go to the Tower" even if there's something playing that they want to see. Oh yeah, watching a movie at Tower is sheer torture!

  4. I know, that lady sucks. And you can too see over the seat in front of you. I don't know what the fuck she's talking about.

The urinal thing seems to be a cleaning issue. They are really old and either need some intensive cleaning or replacement. I don't see why that would cost more than a few grand. I think putting ice in them is a disgusting solution. I'm lucky I'm a woman and I never have to pee on ice. But the trade off is that I'm bad at math and can't think logically, so I guess peeing on ice isn't really too bad.

Even if you couldn't see over the person in front of you, how often is a person even in front of you at Tower?!
And I like peeing on ice.

I work with the lady they quoted. She's 3 foot 2 inches and has a hunched back. She tried to legally get her name changed to "I hate Tower Theatre". She would always call and complain when it was Joel who left the "now playing" recording.
The Paul and Phil show on talk 650 AM (and channel 58 on tv) talked about tower for an hour this morning (around 10). i recorded the tv version and will have to check it out.
