I didn't read any news yesterday, so I had no idea about this whole Karl Rove brouhaha but, as Trousersnake says, I'm lovin' it. Alert reader smiller sent me the link of Scott McClellan gettin' grilled like a Whopper (to extend the burger theme).
Repeat it with me: No one wants to get to the bottom of this more than the President of the United States. How many fucking times does he say that? Total lie. I like this barb:
Q When did they ask you to stop commenting on it, Scott? Can you peg down a date?
MR. McCLELLAN: Back at that time period.

This news for some reason seems to be the most boring thing ever. I dont even know whats happening because i can pay attention to it long enough. kinda like the movie Crash
ReplyDeleteI watch way too much news. I keep up on the subtle stuff with McLaughlin & Co. and check Daily Show for extra tidbits I may have missed. I'm way too newsy nosy. The Rove gives me the willies anyway. They are all satan.

What's boring about the possibility of Karl Rove getting fired?
ReplyDeleteI think this shit is crazy. They're definitely going to find a way to keep Rove around. No question. While Scott McClellan is getting paid to take the heat, the administration is crafting their response. I think Move On sums the whole situation up pretty well:
ReplyDelete"In any case, Plame's work was important, and by exposing her identity, the leaker destroyed ten years of covert relationship-building and could have jeopardized the lives of other covert agents in the field. At best, it was recklessly irresponsible; at worst, it was malicious; and either way, the leaker undermined our national security."
Brew
the NY times has a story today about how it is really hard to convinct someone of leaking a covert operative's cover. the folks who wrote the law defined this crime very narrowly and you have to not only prove that the person who leaked the info knew the person was specifically covert, but you also have to prove some kind of intent at disclosing identity. so, yeah. i doubt mr. rove is going to be convicted of any crime. i do think this is a perfect ding in the administration's first year performance with regards to the war on terror, however.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they won't take Rove down on this one, and since we live in a such a wierd country where "logic" and "reason" mean nothing, most people won't care that Rove was the source of the leak. Just a bunch of Libs playing party politics, right?
ReplyDeleteCharles
ps. Also, Rove is smart enough to know what he was doing when he made reference to Plume's wife, so don't by that he leaked it on accident.
pps. the "Libs" thing was for Smiller.
ppps. I hope I got the the CIA agents name right. It's Plume right?
