We finished off the meal with some fine aged port. However, I heard my second story in just a few weeks of someone puking after eating there. I can only speculate that it's the richness of the food coupled with a good amount of wine that upsets some people's stomachs. The fact that one person had eaten lamb tartare makes it not too surprising. Raw lamb sounds really gross to me, but I can think of a certain Armenian who would probably be stoked on it.
I read the Daisy Spot article in A & K today. It was pretty good. A bit cutesy. I'm happy that they're finally releasing a record. They're having their record release show at Old Ironsides this friday. I'll most likely go. The only weird thing about the cover story is that they used a primitive chalk drawing of Tatiana and Mike for the cover. As a friend said (OK, I'll name drop him, it was Anton Barbeau) "you take the most photogenic band in Sacramento and use a crappy drawing of them for the cover?". See above for evidence.
That picture is so great!

no offense to the armenian, but i ate some his notsupposedtobebutwas lamb tatare at xmas party last year and puked my brains out afterwards...After my great aunts then regaled me with lovely stories of rotten mutton feed to soilders (my great uncles) and remembering eatting rotten goat meat day camp growing up I am done with both of those meats.-

see! i don't think that humans are supposed to eat raw lamb. i'm setting up a joke about armenians right now that is much too offensive to print. and not true, armenians are, as rob zombie would say, more human than humans. And by that I mean they're warm and wonderful people.
ReplyDeleteJust the thought of all that dirty pigeon I ate from the Waterboy still makes me want to puke. It was good, but it felt gross to be stuffed with a bunch of "squab" and sweetbreads. Blech!

I've never tried raw lamb, but I recently ate cured lamb that was pretty good. It was like prosciutto-style, and thinly sliced, but it tasted beefier and gamier. What do you think about lamb chops? Do you want them cooked well done?

That brings a question to mind. What exactly is cured meat? The waterboy had a salad with cured salmon and beets. Scott tried to order it but they were out of the salmon. As for what I think of lamb chops I say that I don't like any kind of chops. Not lamb chops, not pork chops, not mutton chops.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Ah Chop Chop in Carmichael? Nah, I'm just bustin' your chops.

I thought the lamb tartare at the Waterboy was delicious. But I only had a bite or two. It was delightfully seasoned.
ReplyDeleteI love cured meats. Prosciutto, and lots of it, is my jam.

I think she was making a connection between eating raw lamb meat and performing fellatio on an Armenian.
ReplyDeleteCan't deny that DB
ReplyDeleteBut Becky,
ReplyDeleteRemember the lamb burger from Chez Oskar? Bagchi ordered it. It was sooooooo delicious, Tahir's been back for it since, and it was ordered 'rare', which is kind of like raw.
Also, I think cured meat could be defined as meat that hasn't been cooked, but aged or smoked or salted to the point of not being 'raw' anymore. And cured salmon is probably just lox of some kind or another.
