you're wrong

Here is why you are all wrong about it being the norovirus, the nolovirus, the cholavirus, the chupacabravirus or anything else.

Think about it: OK, you say we got this from a highly contagious virus. So virulent was this virus that we all caught it from our food merely being handled by an unseen dirty person in the kitchen. A person we did not come close to, did not touch, etc. Then WHY did one among us who is married not give it to her husband? WHY did the Armeniac not become sick when he ate after me the next day? In fact, why would it be that not one single other person we know, not our boyfriends, siblings, co-workers, priests, lawyers, milkmen, pets, etc. ever get sick? Six days later and the only people who got sick were the FIVE PEOPLE WHO ATE THE ALBACORE TUNA AND NOT THE TWO WITH US WHO DID NOT!!!!!

I'm starting to think it was just a really bad hangover.

Viruses? We're about to be underwater...the river is about to overtake I-5. FM102 even had to move R Kelly's Cinco De Mayo celebration from Discovery Park to echo canyon (Mem Auditorium). Moving the show indoors essentially limits his view of underage piss targets to the first 5 or 6 rows.

So you may know about this already.. but just for shits and giggles - sorry - you can go to the Sac County Health Dept website and look up the health report on every restaurant in Sac. It's some serious food for thought - heh, heh. Some places are a lot cleaner than you would think and some are just horrible. Skipper and I cracked a beer and spent a considerable amount of time laughing at the Lil' Joe's inspection.

    Man I'm a sucker for a pun.

why do people go to nishiki when taka's is right around the corner?

  5. 1)I don't like the food at Takas as much (that's a big one)
2)Their menu is kind of weird and I struggle to find rolls that I want to order
3)Inadequate ventilation leads to tempura-fried hair smell (this is no joke if you have long hair)

I have eaten at Nishiki at least twice a month for years without getting sick. Any restaurant can get a hunk of bad fish. I'm not trying to slander Nishiki as part of my campaign to bring down local businesses, but in this instance I believe it made some of us sick.

I like them both but I think they're pretty different. There's a strange devotion to Taka's that I don't quite get though...
I probably won't go back to Nishiki - at least for a long while.

I can't tell you how the fish is, but Taka's has the best veggie roll in town. Avocado, cukes, some kind of radish sprouts, green apples. I've had Nishiki a couple of times and wasn't too impressed with their deep fried veggie roll, it tasted kind of like stale McDonald's french fries. Have you been back to Taka's since the remodel? They might not be so stuffy anymore.

I love getting in on food conversations. I personally really like zen toro. I think they have the best vegetarian rolls in town! All this talk of food poisening is making me hungry...

I too am a veggie eater, so I can't speak on the fish, but yeah, their veggie rolls are great at Takas. All three of them.
The fried tofu is also quite nice. Like most fried foods though, it's no good to go.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my love for Zen Toro! Why is it the red-headed stepchild of downtown sushi?!

  11. People at my work were just raving about the new Zen Toro in Davis. I'm assuming it must be the same owners. Vegetarian food is sounding great to me ever since I got sick. I ate a noodle bowl at Andy Nguyen last night and it was fantastic. Luckily tomorrow I will be in Mexico, vegetarian capital of the world.

  12. If anyone I know gets sick, I'll concede the point to you and the doc. But, secure in the knowledge that I don't have a virus, I prepared food for everyone at work yesterday and everyone is a-ok.

Amy, I admire your tenacity, but I think it's time to fly the ole white flag...

Patrone, can I fly the...BLACK FLAG!?! Zing! Ah, what has my pathetic life become? I make fun of myself on local blogs. Well, at least I can one up myself.

What about New Edokko? The sushi is always very tasty and they've been very nice about making special rolls when requested. Like the Unicorncum roll. Sorry, I guess I didn't really have to go there.

Kamon also is pretty great, though I haven't been there in a long time.

Becky, have a terrific time in Mexico! Hope the weather's better beautiful and that you don't get conned into letting anyone give you a "Tequila Kiss."
