at first i thought he said "i'm into dating parrots" and i started to laugh out loud. then i re-read it and was totally confused. still, seems like a nice enough dude.
I'm going out on a limb, but I think he means that parrots are very bright and colorful, so he means he doesn't want to date gaudy and brassy women? But if that's the case, he needs to get a better metaphor, because that one's not exactly well known.
Now that I think about it, I think he just really has a fear of an actual parrot responding to his ad and subsequently tricking him into thinking he/she is a human female. He's probably been burned by this before, but in the spirit of fairness, he only breifly mentions it in passing, rather than going on an anti-parrot tirade that might get all the perfectly ethical and decent parrots of the world up in arms.
I don't know. Parrots are smarter and smarter all the time. There's one that can speak full sentances and is pretty cavalier about snack requests. Who is to say one isn't trolling craigslist answering personal ads? It's better to be safe than sorry. Plus, parrots while cool have pretty unexpressive faces. I can see how he wouldn't be into anyone he couldn't really get a read on.

ReplyDeletecould he mean the Jimmy Buffett "parrot heads"? we get a lot of those at my work. they're kinda my favorite.
ReplyDeletei think he means he's not into dating women who can't (don't) think for themselves, so they just "parrot" everything they hear.
