now that's petty

I can't believe someone is accusing the Chili Peppers of being unoriginal.

And for those of you who missed it, here's the "fleamail" where flea pours his heart out about the pain of internet downloads.

Why won't they leave my poor Peppers alone! What about 'Last Night" ? Is TP gonna sue the Strokes? NO! Look, Kiedis just wants to sacrifice his dong on the altar of California as often as possible and without doing doing 'too' much heroin. Can we just give the kid a break. It's not easy having the brain of a 13 yr old

The idea that a band as lame as the Peppers would ever be considered "original" is pretty funny. But going on the principle that there is nothing new under the sun, I'd have to say that pretty much every song out there in the country/folk/blues/rock mode is "stolen" from someplace. Unless the Peppers completely imitated Petty with singing, chording, tempo and lyrics, chances are that it was an accident. Or maybe an homage, like the Cramps God Damned Rock n Roll tribute to Bob Seeger. If Anthony "I am a complete dumbfuck" Kiedis didn't mention it, then he's either a thief or it was an accident.

Why do I care? Why can't Tom Petty break his hand again?

  5. now kev is going to get mad that i'm defending the chi peps and tell me to shut the fuck up, but i must point out ed, that whether or not you think the chili peppers are good, nobody else sounds like them which does make them original.

i learned this in the teaches of kiedis
