Well of course the big news in Sac is the demise of Tower records, books, and video. It makes me sad especially because I worry about the people in Sac who work for them. Broadway is going to be pretty jacked if those buildings stay empty. With El Chico probably never reopening that strip is going to be like a ghosttown with the exception of the cafe and theater.
I was all set to write about how OpResMaxFreeFour was fun for all (except when certain terrible noise bands were causing me to get extremely angry with them) when I read some rumblings that something very bad happened. The cops shut it down? What happened? Whatever did happened I'm pretty sure Rumsfeld and Cheney were probably involved.
they shut it down? jeez. any explaination?
ReplyDelete(I'm talking about OpReMaxFreesdm, not Tower)
I was outta there before the shit went down, but word on the street is that Plainfield only had a permit for music up to 10pm.
ReplyDeleteThere are some rumblings that it was shut down because Yolo locals/cops were not down with the hip hop, but at this point that's unsubstantiated grist from the rumor mill.
such a drag-- it was a very fun event...
called the sheriff in yolo. they shut it down cos plainfield can't have live music after 10pm. of course, this has never been enforced in the 4 1/2 history of plainfield, but the police show up at 10:25pm between the only two hip hop acts with written documentation of the ordinance and shut it down. bummmmerrrrrrrr.
ReplyDeleteNot only is Broadway gonna suck!!!The Watt & El Camino is really gonna be hella ugly!!It really wasn`t pretty to start off with. That big parking lot and a soon to be empty building.Wonder what will happen??
