A travesty

I can't confirm it because it's not online, but an alert reader just tipped me that the Sac Biz Journal is reporting that Starbucks, Quiznos and Subway are in negotiations to take over the former site of Earl of Sandwich. I say we cover the responsible party in Earl sauce, if only we could pinpoint him/her.

And here is an article that is online, Arena round 2 (isn't it more like round 15?)

Fuck that!!! Quiznos' big push continues. I don't really have an opinion on their sandwiches since I think I've only had one & my work paid for it - but I totally hate how they look!! Fucking Quizno's font!!! I hate it!

Isn't that one that opened on Broadway & Alhambra already closed?

  2. Here's the text of the article:

Speaking of historic local sandwich joints, the Earl of Sandwich is
    toast.

Investors have bought the building and are negotiating with major
sandwich operators such as Quiznos, Mr. Pckles and Subway for the
space at 631 16th St. Or it could become a Starbucks Coffee.

The building is now a cozy 600 square feet, but it could be expanded
to as much as 1,400 square feet without too much problem. The former
Earl of Sandwich was a daunting-looking place with its 3-foot-wide
hedge facing 16th Street and enclosed within a black iron gate and
    fence.

I can't believe that I actually hope it becomes a Starbucks. It's sadly the best option on there!! I was sure it was just gonna get knocked down along with that disgusting "motel" behind it to make way for something ridiculous. I mean edgy.
