I am going apeshit right now as I sit at my desk because I just read on FFT that both the fomer Albertson's (the one on J and the one on F) are going to be piece of shit Rite-Aids. Worse than Starbucks!
If you ever mailorder CDs or LPs, don't forget about our friends over at tonevendor. I just got a CD from them and it arrived posthaste.
Just because some blogger has a direct line to Cohn's office doesn't automatically guarantee that those sites WILL become Rite Aids. I wouldn't be surprised if they're right, but Cohn's office has said a lot of things in the past. The developer and a few architects might have shaken his hand in a meeting or showed him some plans in his office, but that doesn't mean it's a done deal. Cohn's staff said stuff before about a Whole Foods somewhere on R Street, but I don't see that happening anytime soon and it's been a year or more since they said it. Maybe it's just a matter of time, I dunno... I'm just leery about rumors from someone who claims to have a direct line to a Councilmembers office that's all.

Erik, you have a journalist's instincts. Word!
ReplyDeleteShallit also confirmed the Rite Aids in his weekend column, however, and the 48th and J streets store will be up in less than three months, pending rain. Petrovich is developing that location. The C Street location is being developed by Sanchez and is moving a bit more slowly. But yeah, I'm fairly confident--as a journo--to say they'll both be Rite Aids.
Yah it would be real wierd to have two rite aids right next to each other as would be the case at the J street location.
ReplyDeleteLast I heard, the albertsons that were gonna close are already closed.
theyve got rite aid in soyuoko province...$1.99 squid and voddka!..take care, jay
