What a weekend!

What a weekend! What a country! Tonight there is a show at the Fox and Goose-Rock the Light, Danny Offer Sensitive Solo Project and San Kazakgascar. It starts at nine and it's four bucks. I was just looking at the Fool's Foundation website because there is a show tonight there, too and I noticed that Ian Svenonius came to Fool's with Calvin Johnson while I was in Japan. Did anyone go to that? How was it? Sassiest Boy In America! He'll never live that down.
Tomorrow is the Peep Off, and it's second saturday so you can check out Liv's show at Fool's if you haven't already and then you can go check out Biz's regular busking gig on 21st, across from Body Tribe (can't remember the street) and NH is hanging up some pictures. Local journalists are allowed and I will explain to them what is going on if they are confused. "Busking" is where someone sings on the street and in this case he tells his friends beforehand and we go to have a good time and hang. Passersby are welcome, as is money in the hat. Olipom has nothing to do with it.

    Zing!!

No explanation necessary. Maybe I'll bring my guitar and my trucker cap and busk, too.

So if it gets rainy during the peep-off does it go indoors? Should someone bring a tarp so the inevitable re-gurging competitors won't ruin Dave's living room? Dave??????

According to the weather weasels, it's s'posed to rain tomorrow. Dunno if that carries over into the evening, though.

  5. Dave's house is big, but there's no way it can contain even half the peep off, even if you include the porch. Hopefully the rain will be the on-again-off-again sort that won't seriously disrupt peeping. If it is, though, I'm just going to figure on having to bring a pancho. I should probably go buy one, in that case.

  8. It's not the biz' fault, God just hates Picnic Day (and Davis) and we're just friendly casualties due to friendly fire.

I guess if it rains, a lot of people will blow it off. It'll be held indoors. I've got a trash can that'd be fine for puking into.

First prize is, and this is a good one, a painting of a sock monkey humping a Peep on the moon by Marletta.

Izzat why people thought that raccoon was trying to "commit suicide" last Sunday? I propose that it jumped off Jed Clampett's pickup, which was headed east on U.S. 50 to get to the bottom of why Sam's Town closed in Shingle Springs, and said raccoon was merely trying to get the jump on everybody else to score some fine antiques. Or something like that.

The Ian Svenonius/Calvin Johnson dance party was really terrific. They played such good music and people danced until nearly 3:30am. There were probably about 40 people at the dance party, and that seemed like a good number for Fools.

Ian did a slideshow/lecture performance on the history of rock and roll that was really funny. Most of it was taken from his new book, "The Psychic Soviet," which is a collection of essays he's published in the last few years. It's definitely worth checking out and for those who don't know, he now has a show at vbstv.com called "Soft Focus." The interview with Chan Marshall is bizarre.

  14. That sounds rad! I'm bummed I missed it, although I bet I would have gotten drunk and humiliated myself by telling him how I got him to autograph a NOU single way back in the nineties.
