Yahmos footage from around '92, be sure to watch until the end. This was around the time I first saw them, and if I can take a stroll down memory lane for a second, it was at the Cattle Club (I pretty much have Jerry Perry to thank for the fact that I'm not still stuck in Lincoln), and I believe the bill was Yah Mos, Tiger Trap, Nation of Ulysses. You could see Nic's buttcrack for the entire show and I was very impressed with how punk he was. And he talked to me, which was probably made me feel the coolest I had felt up to that point. I would guess that he struck up a convo based on a Morrissey or Smiths shirt, since I wore one every day.

  2. I remember being at that show. Nation of Ulysses was el sucko. That was the first band I saw that I got so bored I walked out on. And I'd seen MDC play acoustically at the El Dorado Saloon. Which I'd enjoy now, but not when I was 16.

  3. I think you meant to say "Nation of Ulysses were explosive, it changed my life, and my crush on Ian Svenonius grew to gargantuan proportions".

  5. Yeah, it was weird. People either said that was the best performance they've ever seen or they thought it was b-o-r-i-n-g.

My celebrity crush is on Terri Garr, thank you very much OMF.

I like Thiemann's "not THIS again..." body language during the voting speech.

Ha! Memmmorrrieess! My contribution to this show is the annoying flashing lights you see in the background. I know, I know... but it was all Dennis Yudt and I had to do while the bands were playing, and we were determined to make the most of it. My greatest memory/shame of that time is Exene Cervenka stopping in the middle of her set, turning around to me, and saying "Can you just leave the fucking lights alone?"
