  1. New York Mag has a really great interview with Woody Allen. Caustic but he's pretty much the best. Here's a couple of sample quotes:

NY: Do you think the New York Jew has gotten too assimilated?

WA: No, I’m a big one for assimilation of everybody. But the basic problems remain the same. People still have existential anxiety, relationship anxiety. It just may not be expressed in Hebraic idiom.

NY: Do you know anyone who still goes to an analyst?

WA: I do, though psychoanalysis has gone through a lot of changes.

NY: As the world’s most famous analysand, can you say whether you think analysis works?

WA: People always tease me. They say, look at you, you went for so much psychoanalysis and you’re so neurotic, you wind up marrying a girl so much younger than you. You don’t like to go through tunnels, you don’t like to stand near the drain in the shower. But I could also say to them, I’ve had a very productive life. I’ve worked very hard, I’ve never fallen prey to depression. I’m not sure I could have done all of that without being in psychoanalysis. People would say to me, oh, it’s just a crutch. And I would say, yes. It’s a crutch, and exactly what I need in this point in my life is a crutch.

  4. Here's the building Heller wants to build:
    http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showpost.php?p=3764424&postcount=3500

Technically the building is in Winn Park, not Boulevard Park; I'm not sure if he has notified WPCANA of this event but I'll pass it along.

There is like 5 seconds of Kiedas scattered throughout this vid. It's mostly boring.

  6. My apartment is now in Blvd Park? I thought it was "the manhandle" or something like that. If it's not the Manhandle District, then I grew this moustache for nothing!

I do believe I shall be spending most of October on a houseboat at some nice islands in the Arabian Sea. Coconut moonshine and pirates instead of bombings!

I kid -- the pirates are on the other side of the Arabian and they know have Russia and the US on their backs. I can't imagine anyone living on an isle with blue blue waters could ever get mad enough to build bombs. Well, anyone except Charles Nazi Reilly, but he's dead.

  9. smitty: The east side of the tracks is technically in the Winn Park/Capitol Avenue neighborhood. Boulevard Park is north of J Street, except the historic district is north of I Street, and the National Register historic district will be north of H Street. The "manhandle" is 20th and K, your neighborhood is now officially the "handlebar," named as it is after your 'stache and your 'cycle.

    Dear Secret Blog,

As you know, Spring & Summer are prime Dead listening seasons. What Dead records should I bust out for Fall? I was having trouble with this earlier today.

    Dear Miller,

Hmmmmm...fair question. While "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty" can both compliment an overcast day (think Box of Rain, Attics of your Life, or Dire Wolf)not to mention that the album covers look great next to an Autumn leaf or a foxy sweater, I have to say that my all time favorite Fall Dead album is.....Dick's Picks Volume Four.

    Dear Miller,

Does the Fillmore East February 13th and 14th 1970 ring a bell? If so, you probably weren't there.

  23. Who is going to DSO tomorrow? Do you want to do nitrous in the parking lot beforehand? First I will have to sell some vegan wraps to make enough money to buy the whip-its. I need a miracle!

  24. Anonymous11:21 AM

    I'll be there!!

I am sooooo stoked and I have no idea why. Maybe it's because of Jerry Day. Maybe I want to see the crowd. I can't wait to see Madeline try to sell concessions to an aging hippie on Acid (besides me, of course)!!!

    Front load at my house!!!!!

Phish came back! Hooray! This means all of the phish heads will be out of town for at least the time it takes to do an extended version of a Phish song!

The building plan for the site at which a fine bike repair place once was reminds me of the fact that there was a time when the idea of anything taller than the capitol was thought to be in poor taste. That is, the planners of Sactoe once wanted the skyline to include the capitol.

By the way, I served some folks from Israel some Cambodian food today and they asked me if I was Jewish. The woman said I looked it. First time ever!

I was so excited I said that all honkies were probably Jewish before that damn Jesus guy came along.
