lightrailpubcrawlgate

I can't believe a nation that was brought together by the election of Barack Obama has so quickly been torn asunder by Lighrailpubcrawlgate.  Will Guphy attain the notoriety of G. Gordon Liddy? Can I be Deep Throat?  I've earned the title, believe me.  Ha! J.K., you literal-minded folks out there.

I'm on the fence about whether I want to see Orgasmic Birth tonight at Movies On A Big Screen.  But for sure I'm going to see Dreamdate.  I know I've linked to their myspace a lot before, but I'm gonna get a little micromanage-y right now and say that the first song that pops up to play is not one of my favorite.  If you're on the fence about the show, I recommend you listen to "the one I need" or "why don't you make me".   I've heard this band is popular in Davis, so it's not like it will be ill-attended.  I just think some of you would like it.

Oh yeah, Javalounge is having two days of benefit shows.  Remember, they serve beer now. The Four Eyes are playing on saturday sometime from 2pm until midnight.

There's Klinger's thing too. I may go, I haven't been to Gearhead yet.

Tomorrow Gearhead Records is celebrating the one-year anniversary of
the retail store (although it's a little older...) and the event is
also a Fundraiser for the Yolo Sexual and Domestic Abuse Shelter.

    Noon-7pm.
It's all ages, great for kids, and Go-Girl is supplying free energy
drinks. (I tried one, they really work well...almost too well....)

Come hungry because Hot Dogs and Pizza will be sold benefiting the
shelter. There will also be a RAFFLE, with awesome stuff including
gift certificates, coffee gift sets, clothing, and more. The grand
prize is a Crosley Turntable and can record direct to CD. Pretty cool,
    huh?

A bunch of bands are also playing, here's the line-up:
    Mickie Rat's Rat-O-Matic 12 Noon.
    The Pizzas 1 pm
The Bathtub Gins at 2 pm
    Rat Damage at 3 pm
The Bottom Dwellers at 4 pm
The Jim Rowdy Show at 5 pm
Th' Losin' Streaks at 6 pm.

It should be a lot of fun. I'll be working all day, so come out and
    hang out for a while.

    Gearhead Records is located at:
    39 5th Street Suite C
    Woodland, CA 95695

And no-bitching about it being in Woodland. I currently split my time
between 3-cities, and the drive really isn't bad be it from Sac or Davis.

Anyways, I wanted to give the heads up. We'd love to see a bunch of
people out! It's for a great cause. Also, a bunch of stuff in the
store is being super marked-down, so it's also a great time to get a
jump start on your holiday shopping.

  3. Well, it's not my thing, it's Gearhead's thing, but I will probably be wired on Go Girl and recommending a bunch of cool records to everyone.

Come on out! You can still make the million other benefit shows going on that day.

    Ahhhh Friday!

is the Javalounge thing to benefit Javalounge or something else? Am I missing something here? I clicked on the link and it led me to the dreamdate myspace (which I totally dig, so it's cool).

My two cents here. I would waste money on keeping java lounge open.I think that place is just down right awesome.A coffee house with a nice staff and great bands at cheap prices.Punks should learn a lesson on economics beside our strong strong points of politics and beer drinking.Instead buying from the corporate 7-11 that 6 pack of cheap beer that doesn`t host punks shows buy a beer or coffee from java lounge. So yeah--the beer is pricy but you have a cheap and awesome place that has great bands.Soon enough 7-11 will have to realize live music is the answer and will start doing live shows then you can switch back but then java lounge will become a decent up market convient store where we can do our shopping.

I drove out to Woodland to see the Pizzas and I loved the drive. I love the colors of the Central Valley in fall. It was extremely pleasant and I saw a hawk. Also Gearhead is super cool. The Woodland punk kids have to be so stoked.

  11. Thanks to everyone who made it out to Woodland. It was a super fun party at Gearhead Records! We made money for the Domestic Violence Shelter, the bands were cool, two people brought cakes and the raffle was rad!

Thanks everyone! I like job security.

  12. The Yolo Sexual and Domestic Abuse Shelter is okay and all, but I think that money really should've went to Java Lounge.
