Sanad's is no more, and in its place is Jasmine Cafe, which is also Middle Eastern. I checked it out on second saturday. They were closed when I walked in, but agreed to make me a falafel, so perhaps I am not judging it fairly, and I'll give it another try, BUT it was no way as good as Sanad's falafel. The falafel balls were the usual bad falafel balls, dry and beige inside. Sad.
Damm that is sad, I was really looking forward to their outdoor seating in the warmer weather

Damn it! Why are the ancient sons playing with !!! at the one show I probably can't make?! I MISS YOU ANCIENT SONS! I listened to the "Dark Gospel" like 3 times yesterday.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, if you don't want to drum on Biz's drums, it's time to pony up.
Gbomb
Oh and by you, I mean Halloween show drummers.
ReplyDeleteGeri Peari
I can maybe bring a few things. As long as there's a basic set up each drummer can probably bring a few extra things they want to use of their own. I can definitely bring a good hi-hat & a crappy floor tom for common use. I might be a slight jerk about my snare. Your own snare & cymbals is the usual "borrwing drums" etiquette. Not that I've ever borrowed drums.
ReplyDelete-miller
Can you work it out with Biz? I know my drummer is bringing his own snare, so maybe most will do that.
ReplyDeleteWe may be able to start a little later since Chicago dropped out. I think we are down to only 13 bands.
Anyway, people this show starts early (6:30-7) and ends early. And then you will want to go to the Press Club to see !!!. In conclusion, pack a sandwich because it's going to be a long night.
Bill Graham
wait, !!! is playing saturday, too?
ReplyDeleteDude, start it at 5:00 or 6:00 tops! 13 bands in 3 hours even if they play short seems like a stretch. Maybe I'm still smarting from Oasis getting shut down by the cops. You guys were robbed of an epic I am the Walrus.
ReplyDelete-miller
!!! just scored a coveted one year stand at the Press Club.
ReplyDelete-miller
But I think the Maayors show at my house was busted because it started too early. you know, the cops didn't have anything else to do yet.
ReplyDeleteI am going to start it at 6:30 and do some sound proofing tonight.
McKenna
Alright but crack the whip on that starting time!
ReplyDelete-Soriano
start it at 6am, and then by the time the cops wake up, it will be over!
ReplyDeleteTime to bring back day shows!
ReplyDelete-Natalie.
anyone know who plays first tonight?
ReplyDeleteCan I watch LOST and go to the show?????
Re: Biz's Drums
ReplyDeleteHere's what I have:
1 bad kick drum
1 terrible snare
1 broken ride
1 pair of cracked hi-hats
1 great tambourine
I'm happy to let people use it, but I just want to let everyone know what they're in for, so I don't have to hear any bitchin about it.
Oh, and I agree with starting the show at early, but that's only going to work if we all man up and get there on time.
-biz
P.S. No shit?! The Homosexuals! That's amazing.
ReplyDelete-biz
That Homosexuals show is at a friendly house at 802 Villanova Drive in Davis. 7pm start is advertised. 10pm finish is a must. There is a Save Mart a few blocks away for BYO-whatever.
ReplyDeleteon the falafel issue -- they make a good one (not as good as Sanad's) at the Greek place that opened in the rotating burger joint next to the diy car wash on Folsom, just past 65th.
ReplyDeletealso for veg's the Asian Mushroom sandwich is a trip -- I had to ask to make sure it wasn't meat
I'm not sure if that house on Villanova Drive is all that "friendly" - somebody once looked at me funny there and I saw someone on the front porch wearing some nice clothes. Pissed me off.

Biz, your drums sound awesome! Especially the tambourine. My attic feels empty without them. Please bring them back.
