Random unnecessary One Day At A Time trivia: Two sons of Joseph Campanella, the actor who played the ex-husband on some episodes, are members of the band The Quarter After, who have played in town a few times. I knew one of the guys (Rob) back in my college radio days. Rob was always a really nice guy, though definitely very Hollywood. (This is perhaps the most pathetic example of name-dropping in which I have ever participated, which is saying something.)
what was the story about the creator of frank and ernest, Bob Thaves (RIP)? This is a list of Frank and Ernest's shared traits, from their website:
Observers. Neither right nor left, but always off-center. Nothing is sacred for them. Everything is fair game for their wit. Respect society - but aren't afraid to point out its flaws. Vacation plans likely to include renting travel videos and watching them on the couch. Make fun of themselves - not others. Able to laugh at themselves.
I think this is the appropriate forum to declare that Mandy Patinkin is NOT DEAD. Willy, you owe me 5 bucks!
Everything IS a fair game for their wit! Jeff's dad was the artist's doctor so he drew up a cartoon with Frank and Ernest in a doctor's waiting room under the stars and Frank (or Ernest, I can't be sure) says "I'll bet that I can count these stars before I see the doctor."
I hope that I totally have it wrong because that doesn't really make sense for a lot of reasons, but then again, it's Frank and Ernest so why would it make sense.
Or, if you're a real red-blooded American, I hear Heckamax is performing at the Boss tribute show tonight at Old I.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I thought that was last night. Right, commies to the freak folk show, real Americans to the Bruce Springsteen tribute show.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the Mackenzie Phillips new story? I am shocked! Shocked! Shame on you, John Phillips!
ReplyDeletegbomb
Can we really believe anything Mackenzie Phillips says at this point? Next she'll be saying that Schneider's mustache was not real.

I don't really believe her, she just had to figure out a way to get on Oprah.

Also, I am glad that Patinkin is still with us.
