Ugh, monday. I'm sick of this economy, you know what I mean? Are you with me? What's the term for young, downwardly mobile professionals? ydppies isn't very catchy.

my major accomplishment this weekend was getting dj larry to play spirit in the sky twice at the wedding. i can die happy now.

Yes, The Changeling is scary as fuck. I thought The Descent was great. The Haunting (original) is good, too.

As for the economy, I don't know - the New Poor works for me. As much as I think frugality & thriftiness is overall a good thing for our society, I do wish the economy would get better for the sake of my 401(k) and making the aisles of my favorite thrift stores less crowded.

I am totally with you, I am fine but my margin for error keeps getting smaller and smaller.
and that margin is made of frivolous meals and buying junk, the stuff that I like.

  11. On the bright side, it looks like I dodged a bullet by blowing off my dissertation:

I'd really hate to be looking for a decent job in academia right now.

That doesn't make me any richer, or more employable, but it does make it easier to not regret the road not taken.

The Broke works for me. Maybe the Brokeouise?

Agreed that the Changling is one creepy flick. Also, the original Last House On The Left is disturbing. Failing that, there's always the old standby Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The real one.

Oh yeah, also The Devil's Backbone & The Last Wave.

  14. Thanks, for the suggestion, but I've seen all those movies. Well, not the last house on the left, but that's more slasher than horror. The Changeling is indeed scary. I settled on Re-Animator.

That Pan's People video was great.
