the Bee joins the fray

Now the Bee is piling on for the food cart issue. The comments seem to run pretty much in favor, even with all the normal Bee wackos calling them "yuk trucks", etc. Have we finally reached critical mass with this? I have yet to hear a single restaurateur named who called for the anti-food truck ordinance. The noise complaint thing is vague. I guess it's history and we should just move on now.

Piling on the issue? I'd been working on this story and idea for bit ... saw that sactopress got something out sooner (and all the power to them) and KOVR also did a segment, but it's all good in this 'hood. Thanks for posting the link ... \m/ - Chris M.

  2. I didn't mean it as a dis, I just meant that I hope it's reaching critical mass.

S'all good ... btw, I heard a couple names of some restaurateurs who were allegedly behind those regulations getting passed in 2008, but nobody would go on the record to confirm. You can also see the archived video from that City Council meeting at the City of Sacramento's web site. There was one woman from Oak Park who was especially vocal about noise complaints, etc.

  4. and they say one person can't make a difference! it's good to know that one disgruntled grouch can lead to a sweeping city ordinance after very little debate. now let's spend the next couple of years trying to repeal it.

wow, that comment makes me sound like a bee commenter!

congrats on the front page story

I would really, really love to see a list of the restauranteurs who supported this stupid ordinance.

  8. I would suspect as with GreenWise, the tipping point is the Mayor & TPTB finally see that there's a pretty strong business opportunity that they're blowing.

  9. Someone needs to rig up a stage into a retrofitted taco truck and drive around town doing stand-up comedy and then moving on (within half an hour, of course.) They could call it "The Yuk Yuk Truck."
