I like that old time chalk n roll.

The Mayyors certainly brought it this weekend. I had to watch them through the window at the DAM house and what with the red light and the sweated-up windows it looked like the seventh circle of hell in there. Except fun! They went out at the top of their game.

Speaking of the top of their game, check out these sandwiches from Magpie. What do you guys think is their best sandwich?
Magpie has been making sausage. This one was a pork sausage with fennel and an eggplant tapenade.
It already looks like fall in my community garden. There are GIANT pumpkins everywhere, as well as this little baking pumpkin.
Bittman had a weird recipe for pumpkin pasta so I gave it a try. You shred the pumpkin in a food processor, then cook it with water, a little butter and oil, chili flakes, a sprinkle of nutmeg and sugar, and s and p.
Then serve with parmesan on top. Pretty good. The nutmeg is really the key. Otherwise it would be boring.
After only 16 years as a band The Four Eyes finally got around to making a pro banner. They invented a new genre of music this weekend-Chalk N Roll. I heard it's here to stay.

This little girl's drawing was my favorite. Later she was diligently coloring it bright orange.

  1. BLT at magpie is fantastic, but is a little hard to eat and is always messy. Bahn Mi is tasty too, but I prefer it from a vietnamese restaurant.

You could always use the knife and fork they apparently provide. You are sitting down after all.

    A. Trout for sure. I haven't had the Bahn Mi because I just can't see it being better than Huong Lan.

    B. Bike sting. I knew if was coming.

"Avoid cycling at night"? That's not the law (you just need a front light & back reflector), but thanks for implying that it is. Jerks.

Especially after they say that bikes follow the same rules as cars. Apparently only during the day.

    JERKS!

In the second picture Jay looks a little like Johnny Diamonds.

Just a little. Perhaps enough to be his stunt double.

  8. Could I have some advice on buying a computer? I want a desktop for my house, just for freelancing and high def porn, er...web surfing...and I want the best cheapest thing possible that I can order online easily without much shopping around. Advice? I don't need a laptop.

Re: desktop. If you want a beater, you can find government auctions: $70 to $100. The computers will be completely wiped, so you'll have to buy a Windows OS ($100).

If you're buy from a box store, remember that the computers that they have on display are the product they want to move. They hardly make any money off of computers, so they don't display a broad selection. However, they have a lot of last year's models tucked away. They display their entire inventory online, so spend some time finding the model you want.

If you know any computer nerds, have them review the specs. I can tell you that you should try to go with a core 2 duo processor rather than a dual core, if you can afford it.

  14. If you just go for the cheapo desktop, you can use Ubuntu as an OS for free. Download or they'll send you a disc just for asking. Then you can use linux and start making fun of people worried about viruses (which only affects Windows) and you can make fun of the Apple people for paying so much for the Apple certified linux OS
