"A swank U-shaped bar will replace the current dark dive. Outdoor seating around a fire pit promises to enhance the hipster factor on West Capitol Avenue."
yea, i file this away under things that make me so grumpy i can't function so would rather not think about them. kinda like the destruction of all of the original neon signage in W Sac.
I always forget about that AMF. When I took bowling in high school (LOL) that's where we went. They would open it early for us since it was only available at zero period. Nothing like bowling at 7:00 AM.

But they're updating it to make it "retro". Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWhere will the defunkification end?! I mean, aren't bowling alleys allowed, or even encouraged, to look dated and gross.

ReplyDeleteover the last few months they've been doing a bunch of punk shows again (all ages), I'm betting the remodel may spell the end of those as well
ReplyDeletelooks like the Halloween show won't be at the hub either.
ReplyDeleteThey just don't seem to understand what makes West Sac special. Welcome to the 'same-ing' of the USA.
ReplyDeleteIs Welcome Grove gonna be next on the chopping block? - that place is really weird. Somebody needs to photograph the roof garden.

ReplyDeleteWell, there's still AMF on 35th and Freeport. That one has a great dive bar.

let's go there and bowl!
ReplyDeleteWe should go soon - before it gets turned in to a mixed-use live/bowl loft space.
