The lack of comments makes me feel like no one is reading this thing, so I feel weird, but then I just looked at my stats and I see people are looking, but I guess there is just nothing worth commenting on. Oh well, I guess I'll just soldier on.
I had a pizza emergency yesterday and had to buy a slice at Luigis or risk starving. Wow. The crust seemed like it was molded from sand. Or maybe from one of those bleached cow carcasses in the dessert that had been pulverized, shaped into a pizza-like wedge, and then further dehydrated on the face of the sun. It was that dry. I was in the mood for an oily, cheesy slice, and instead I got crust that sucked the moisture from my body, a layer of cheese that was perhaps 20 microns thick, and no discernible sauce. What kind of pizza is this? What style is it? Who in their right mind would make or sell such a pizza? Are we all just cogs in god's giant machine or do we have free will? These are the questions this slice raised and I still feel unsettled.
It was a bad night for trying things, because I also tried the Ruhstaller HopSack beer. Zuh? WTF? not LOL, at all. Fresh hops were supposed to be involved with this beer somehow? Perhaps the bottle was molded from them because the beer showed no signs of it. Nastay.
The quality gap between original Luigi's and Luigi's Slice has become too gulf-like.
ReplyDeleteIn the spirit of leaving a comment, I'll just say that despite the nice people that work there (and it being a good venue), Luigi's has the worst pizza in midtown. It's always worth the walk down to Pieces if you need pizza ASAP in that area.
ReplyDeleteI bought a bottle of Hop Sac from Taylors for $10. It was truly awful. There has got to be something wrong with it. It tastes like soap.

The brewer has to know that there is something wrong with that beer. And you know what you do in that case? No, you don't slap some burlap on it and charge ten bucks - you pour it down the drain and call it a loss.
ReplyDeleteI take it Peter did not brew this year's Ruhstaller hop beer?

Quite a smackdown when someone offers Pubes as the sensible slice choice.

I choked down a whole bottle of Hop Sac (which is a creepy name too, if you're not from Sac). I don't know why I drank it. I think I kept thinking I would finally notice that it tasted like beer at some point. Luckily I had an Aroma Coma on hand to wash it away. In a sense I did pour it down the drain, but that drain was my esophagus.

Uncle Vitos is my favorite late night slice, but the ambiance sux.

P.S. sometimes I comment, but the captcha is too hard and I just give up. This may be one of those times. It's hard to know as I write this.
Agreed. The captures increasingly discourage. Why so hard, Blogger, why?
ReplyDeleteNM
My phone won't let me comment. Unless this goes through and proves me wrong!
ReplyDeleteI wasnt going to comment but the "captcha" was too easy to pass up! I have nothing to say except 4 eyes show at blue lamp on friday. sammie nominated band = totally legit
ReplyDeleteps. what stores have Aroma Coma around here?
You're on the marquee! Taylor's has Aroma Coma or they did yesterday.
ReplyDeletemade the marquee and a sammie nom? If we make the SNR grid then i know we've made it big time.
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to play at 1am! I heard its what all the cool bands are doing now days.
I scoff at anyone's recommendation of Fieces....I mean Pieces.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't read your captcha, click the refresh button below it. I sometimes click the refresh button over and over 'til I get a captcha that unscrambles into something funny.

Pieces is always better than Luigi's Slice, but it's never good.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd rather eat a frozen pizza than eat Luigi's Slice or Pieces. They are both grody.
ReplyDeletei was too tired to come up with a comment yesterday, I was in a work coma. No one ever comments on my blog at all so don't feel too bad.
I had emergence surgery and was bed ridden for like 3 weeks. During that time I discovered true hell and then attained Nirvana. Now I'm still not firing on all cylinders, and I'm broke! Gotta play some music to cover rent. If you see a washboardist busking in the street, chuck me a dollar, wouldja?
ReplyDelete-The Neighbor
PS: Washboardist IS TOO a word Blogger!
Ha ha, "Emergency" not Emergence, that sounds hippie.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry!!! Get well soon! I'd love to buy some eggs off you, top dollar.
ReplyDeleteEgg production follows the sun. We're not getting too many right now. I'll hit you up if we get a surplus pre-Spring. You and Smiller are always welcome to drop by for giggles.

ReplyDeletefrozen pizza. i found one good and cheap. kirkland pepperoni. box of 4, rising, about 3.25 per. heavy, filling, best undercooled slightly. of course to have to get into costco, but what are friends for. definitely better than pieces and luigis, or at least as good as. i think better
