Chowhound has had a lot of sacto posts lately and one thread is increasing my curiosity about Giovanni's pizza. I ate there once for James W.'s bday but I'm not even sure I ate pizza. Everyone is raving about it and also about the rotisserie chicken they have there. I wanna go! Have I mentioned that I'm hungry?
I heart Giovanni's. I think it is the place that will finally end my 6 year tirade about the lack of a decent pizza in Sac (sorry to all you pizza hut lovers). I went there for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and ordered my first anchovie pizza. Sweet AND salty. I still haven't decided how I felt about it. They also have ricotta cheese as a topping. Don't be hasty now. Think on it, ricotta plus pizza equals yum.
ReplyDeleteGlad you (and miller) are back.

Hello, and let me say I heart Giovanni's. In fact it is the one place that will end my 6+ year tirade on the lack of decent pizza in sac (sorry all you pizza hut lovers). They have ricotta cheese as a topping! Need I say more.
ReplyDeletejana.

Here's some SPAM...
ReplyDeleteDear fans of The Feeling and readers of Sacramento's best blog,
As you have already read on the heckasac blog, The Feeling can no longer be The Feeling because the British have stolen our thing (see thefeeling.com). SO!! I encourage all of you to come witness the start of a new era this Saturday (October 8th) at the Distillery. The last The Feeling show ever with Lyme Regis starts at 10pm.
Don't be a fool!!
Alec
I only ate at Giovanni's once, and I thought it was waaaay overpriced given the fairly average quality of the pizza. But there are those who swear by it.
ReplyDeleteGiovanni's is not bad if you like the super thin crust pizzas. In fact, they're so thin that I could probably eat a whole large by myself. I've only had the veggie and the cheese. The veggie has artichoke hearts on it, which is all fine, but the crust is so thin that it doesn't really support such a weighty topping. I do love their sauce though.

I've heard that the Feeling is now going to be the Feeling U.K. Has the new name been decided? Perhaps you guys should request a Heckasac poll for new names....
ReplyDeleteOct 8th - official date of too much going on! Man, I'm bummed I'm gonna miss this show.

uh, this saturday, october 8th? isn't lyme regis playing the Budget Rock Showcase at Thee Parkside? hmmm. you could steal their name while they're out of town.

You should call yourselves That James Williams Feeling...kinda catchy, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteTHE FEELING UK!!
ReplyDeleteI thought Lyme Regis were opening for Devo and Bowwowwow in Oakland on the 8th?
ReplyDeleteJames and I had a conversation many moons ago about what happens when a band in another country has the same name as yours. Uh, Alec knows a bit about this too since he told James the whole story about the english beat changing their name cuz some other band was called 'the beat' in america i believe. (although I told alec that i thought this was a witty explanation for the name 'canadian parliament' and he didn't remember telling that story to James so maybe i have all my facts screwed up). Anyhow, I don't exactly want to see 'the feeling' become "the american feeling" but maybe stamping a more local identity on it would make it sound nice? keeping with the tradition of the boulevard park trio that is. . .
ReplyDeleteI think they should change their name to Paragary's.

Don't you think Spataro! should have an exclamation point after it. The arduous signing in process makes posts like these hardly worth it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, please I have to give myself props here and ask you to read the comments in the post about the matzoh ball soup. If you don't think it's funny you are anti-semitic
they should change it to "the new States" or "the original new states"
ReplyDeleteno way. the new states were already a band that lived and died. and kev, if you're reading this, the fact that i remember the new states could be a major key to figuring out my identity.
