Nich from Phono Select asked me to post about some fun stuff they've got coming up. First off, this Saturday there is a Four Eyes-themed art show (?) that opens this Saturday (Second Saturday, you may have heard of it) and the Four Eyes are playing it. The Four Eyes haven't played in Sac all year, and now they've played in Sac three times in the last four weeks. It's Four Eyes feast or famine. There's something about the Four Eyes that just inspires people. Remember when Dave Hart's class choreagraphed a dance to Hat Nerd? Super cute. How old are these kids now?
Also, they are having a free in-store appearance by the Bare Wires on October 15th. Remember how Patrone is in their video?
Here's the rather convoluted story of how the Four Eyes art show came about, after the jump:
FOUR FLUORESCENT BROWN EYES
The Four Eyes are a punk rock group that has been around since 1993. They
are from Sacramento, California. They are awesome and have songs like Hat
Nerd and R&R Martian.
Flourescent Brown is a loose collective of artists from Pennsylvania that
paints,
draws & sculpts. They use text, kooky geometric designs, and intentionally
awkward observational drawing to get things done.
Mark Mahosky ( AKA Professor Drillpress) is the missing link. He is the
sometimes bass player for Captain 9’s and the Knickerbocker Trio, a
Sacramento based Pennsylvania punk rock outfit, a painter, and the
mastermind behind the Fluorescent Brown group. He is putting together a
show at Phono Select in Sacramento of art based on songs by the Four Eyes
–the band that toured with Captain 9’s in March.
The show, appropriately named FOUR FLUORESCENT BROWN EYES, is set to open
in October of 2011. “Professor Drillpress” Mahosky will be curating and
designing the show which will be sent to Sacramento by September 15. It
will be a salon style show. If you want to be in the show, listen to the
cd of Four Eyes Songs, and check out the lyric sheets. Then make a piece
based on one of the tunes-(or whatever- it could be a fucked up shape that
reminds you of one of their songs). The pieces should be small-like no
bigger than 12” in any direction (don’t be an asshole and make a piece 3
mm x 2 mm). They should be priced no more than $150 and if you sell
something your cut is 60%. Professor Drillpress will assemble all the
pieces the first week of September in Kutztown. Drillpress will pay for
all the shipping to and from and will accept any donations towards it if
you are feeling particularly magnanimous.
If you have any questions about this particular endeavor, please give Mark
Mahosky a call at 570 412 2044 and leave a message. He might get back to
you.

God I am excited.
Natalie.
are you making a piece? i didn't realize they were accepting stuff.
p.s.-I think SNR was wrong, Dave Foley isnt' at the Punchline, it's Scott Thomas and Kevin McDonald. KM is my least favorite Kid In The Hall, ST is OK. I would go see the tour consisting of Bruce and Dave.
Would it be OK to make something based on the future Four Eyes hit "Rain Hype"?
-miller
p.s.-What's going on for Halloween? I just ordered my wig.
I would have totally put something in but the deadlines seems long past.
I am celebrating early Halloween on the 22nd at the Secret Alley, Jay is playing. there will be some art No idea on in town stuff.
Yeah, not as stoked on those kids in the hall.
Sorry this is just an email to you.
-Natalie.
