thumbs up

I give Control the thumbs up. This is a clip from Tony Wilson's TV show that was recreated for the movie. On the youtube page for this people were saying that the Killers version is better! There are so many great, influential songs in the movie and then Anton Corbijn blows it at the end by including a Killers cover of a Joy Division song! Anyway, tonight's the last night it plays.

Well I'm glad to hear you liked it. All the critics keep kicking this movie to the curb, and I think, "Jeff, if you were sixteen again, and you heard that fucking Anton Corbijn was making a movie about Joy division, you would see it on opening day even if Ian Curtis himself rose from the dead and panned it." AS it is, I haven't seen the mvoei yet. Maybe listening to the critics is a symptom of getting old.

I think any fan of Joy Division & that era of music in general will like it. Someone who knows nothing about Joy Division might find it a little boring but I'm really glad I saw it. The actors who play the band actually perform most of the songs & they get really close. You should go see it - tonight's the last night.

I'm not a big JD fan, but I thought it was pretty well done. The music scenes were pretty powerful and the drama seemed fairly realistic. I'm guessing that everyone wasn't quite as pretty in real life though...
