Ate there Sunday. Good bacon, memorable butter.

I ride by this every day on my way to work, and I always have to shake my head. They're clearly pandering here.

Poor American Legion Hall...

Pandering? totally.
Tired? Most likely.
But all will be forgiven if I can get a new, delicious breakfast place into the mix.

I thought only restaurants that seemed like a front for something else were allowed to open in that spot.

Best potential venue space squandered again. I like good food and pay extra for really good food, but this area needs more practical choices. For every new tattooed chef-as-rockstar-wannabe or indie-chick-makes-cupcakes, there needs to be at least a 1:1 ratio of quick/convenient/practical.

FYI when I spoke with Billy on Sunday he did say B&B would have a lot of to go items for breakfast and lunch. He may have even used the terms "quick and convenient." Hopefully they'll be practical!

Well only with tattooed rockstar chef wannabees.

Also, is that horrible yet inexplicably popular breakfast spot still next door?

were the to-go items along the lines of "bacon sandwich grilled in butter" or "cube of butter wrapped in bacon"? we need more good SALADS and FISH and beautiful VEGETABLES (akin to what Thiemann is doing at Ella and what Magpie has been doing for years) not more bacon or butter or pork belly.

are you referring to the Lucky Cafe? Still going strong, although now the Weatherstone (which is along those same lines) is now inside Headhunters.

Lucky Cafe is a waste of good neon signage in a bar/nightclub hotspot. Closing at 2pm everyday is the worst example of failed potential. That place would rake it in like the big dog even if they kept the barely-mediocre quality available for the late-night crowd.

RAKE IT IN LIKE THE BIG DOG!

This will be the perfect place for my "Remember 2011: Bacon and zombies fanfest"!

I would imagine that his B&B menu will be similar to Golden Bear. And now breakfast. I don't want to defend the unfortunate trend of swine and dine, but Zoellin is a good guy who comes from good restaurants (Mulvaney, Kitchen) where healthful food is emphasized. Nomenclature aside, let's give the guy a fair shake at this "cursed" location and see what he does as far as veggies and fish and legumes and nuts and beans.

Isn't the Cornerstone in Headhunters?

I just always figure that if they want to emphasize heavy rich food that they don't want my patronage. See also Wicked 'wich food truck. They have repeatedly emphasized that they don't want the money of healthful eaters. I hope it works out for them.

P.S. Bacon is NOT better than bread. Sometimes it is, but not always.

bread and butter is a good restaurant name, on a couple of different levels. bacon and butter, besides both being delicious and artery-clogging actually have nothing to do with each other, because bacon produces its own sauce and you would never use it in conjunction with butter.

Beks, I get that Veggies and Fish and Salad would be great and needed, but what people want to eat and will pay for is bacon, cause it's delicious. As is butter, I often eat them in conjunction, for example buttered bread with a bacon omelet.
The name is undeniably bad, but perfect for our gluttonous, schizophrenic food culture. And isn't this guy local-ish as opposed to CPK et.all?

The food might be great, I don't know. But if you're gonna call your restaurant Bacon and Butter, you might as well just call it Eat This Pig Slop You Fat Fuck.

Coming soon to the MARRs building!

Obviously, I'm in the minority here. Maybe "Bacon & Butter" isn't the best name, but at least they didn't fall into the crappy trend of naming your restaurant after its address. I mean, at least it's a name!

Also, I doubt that the name of the place doubles as its menu. I'm sure there are non-butter/bacon dishes. Plus, this chef has a respectable resume. Give dude a shot.

And why all this hate for the Lucky Cafe? I like an old-school unironic greasy spoon that proudly frames a "4th best breakfast" award. Go 4th!
