Saison De Licious

It's time for the return of Heckasac's most beloved feature-Brew Awareness!

So, SoCals Bruery brewery has really made a quick push locally. I heard that their beer is now at BevMo, maybe it's at Whole Foods, too? The Davis Co-op has a good selection. I picked up a Saison De Lente for 8.50. What a deal!

It's not at WF quite yet, but as soon as it is, I'll let you know. Sweet!

I'll keep an eye out for it on our next suburban excursion to the BevMo.

I know that it's at the Davis Food Co-Op.

That's great stuff, but it's feeling distinctly like Sac Treat time to me!

I would add that the Saison de Lente & the Saison Rue are the best ones to stick with. Some of the other ones by the Bruery are just OK.

In other brew awareness news, it looks like Sacramento Brewing will be releasing their first sour beer in August. From the website:

"We named it Beersel after the city where our sour culture came from and this particular batch also had some tart cherries added to the barrel. The beer had spend 16 months aging in barrels with brettanomyces, lactobacillus and pediococus and this was the first sample available for public tasting. It has a nice sharp sourness with a plesant earthy and spicy character from the brett. Just a touch of acetic acid (vinegar) but not overwhelming and a mild cherry finish. I expect the beer to be available in mid August at the brewery."

Remember to ask for it frozen so it can slowly melt as you drink the beer. It's the only way to assure it's always ice cold!
