the hardest part

This was my brunch yesterday. I got a big bag of squash blossoms at the farmer's market for a dollar, and we whipped up some pico de gallo and mixed up a fresh batch of masa, which miraculously turned out to be the perfect consistency. I put tabasco and habanero hot sauce in the Tecate (and a dash of salt) and it was tasty.
I also got 8 pounds of pickling cucumbers for a buck a pound, and me and CH (no, she's not from Dinuba) made some pickles. We were somewhat lassez faire with the recipe, so if they turn out, I will officially know that it's hard to fuck up pickles.
Here's the result. Yes, FFT, I know it's blurry. The hard part of pickling is waiting six weeks.

Thanks for the plug on Ancient sons playing at Luigi's last Friday, although it did not help in the least. Small turn out for a big sound I should say. Still, much appreciated. Ancient Sons are now on hiatus and possibly will have a 2nd record out this year. I will keep you posted! No wonder this town can't keep a band around.

Awww! I'm really sorry. I wanted to go but had conflicting plans. I love the Ancient Sons. It's always confounding to try to figure out what makes people show up for certain shows and not others. Don't think about it too hard. It's not because people don't like Ancient Sons.

The Ancient Sons blew my mind! Which I think is their purpose. The band seriously brought it even for such a small crowd.

I actually have a "taking pictures of food" preset on my nikon coolpix.

You're probably just getting camera shake because your shutter speed is too slow. I'd try using your macro mode (the little flower icon). It will reduce DoF, and with food shots you generally want the background to be blurry to set off whatever is on the plate. And if you can increase ISO, maybe go up a notch...or sometimes cameras have an exposure comp instead of iso settings, look for little (+/-) icon.

Although I do like the deep DoF in the first picture, because you can see someone's fingers grabbing up the last little bite. I'm hungry, and that photo's not helping.

Chris, if you like your music, and I assume you do, you should keep on playing it despite whatever fluctuations there are in interest/attendance. Sacramento isn't responsible for breaking up bands.

I fully intended on attending the A.S. show, but the night just didn't work out that way...

some nights are just better then others.

The blurry pictures are usually the ones taken before she has her glass of morning wine.

It's pretty hard to get a good turnout when the only band people have heard of is a local band. Right now Ganglians, Mayyors & Agent Ribbons are about the only local bands that can pull that off (I'm sure there are a few others I'm not aware of). The assumption will always unfortunately be that you can catch them next time.

If the Sons had played with Knock Knock & The Four Eyes or something like that, then more people would've come out. Probably a lot more than would come to each of those bands' individual shows.

But wait, that's not why you guys went on hiatus is it?

Is it as huge as the boner that SNR seems to have for her? JUST kidding.
