salsa awareness

This is a picture I stole from Amber Kloss' myspace of her costume on Mad Men!!

Can someone please make me a salsa awareness logo, because I have some hot (literally) salsa news. I went to stock up on tamales at La Esperanza (on Franklin near Morants), and got a half pint of the red salsa that many in line are usually buying. Holy guacamole is it good. La Esperanza has a family connection with Los Jarritos, and their red salsa is similar to one they have at Jarritos but better. It had very fresh and flavorful cilantro pieces, and is a pretty red-orangey color. Spicy, too. It's 2.25 for a big carton of it.

Crap, there's too much to do this week already. Tonight Pissed Jeans are playing at Luigis. The Record Club is also having a movie night tonight and playing a Belle and Sebastian movie and a Morrissey movie, so all the twee pussies in town (including me) will be at that. Starts at 8 at the ToHo. Tomorrow The Mayyors are at the Hub, and Thursday is the Charles Albright Extravaganza at West Capitol Bowl.

I like the fact the costumers on mad men have to get all the clothes super cheap. One of them came into a friend's store in bv hills and told her that they can spend $50 per dress at the most. That is a bold move for any show, but especially for one that is doing so well!

true, although i listened to a piece on i think fresh air the other day.. can't remember because i was station hoping in idaho... anyhoo, i guess they have a certain budget per episode which has to include everything from clothing to sets. one of the examples they used was an attempt to recreate the inside of a 60s airplane which included upholstering seats. little details can get expensive fast.

aside from being pro Mad Men for the clothes and Amber watching i'm also pro Mad Men for their influence on contemporary fashion. i had to buy some fancy-ish new work clothes recently and had tons of lovely frocks to choose from because of the recent MM inspired retro wave. instant work attire!

(1) I am so happy amber is doing well!

I found some dudes selling tamales out of the back of their truck across the street from the farmers market. They are good! Our tamale lady is sporadic with deliveries so another good alternative for people out there. $7 for half-dozen--pork, chicken, beef or queso/jalapeno.

Becks- are you going to Queen's market next door to the old dmv on florin?

-banana ketchup!
-turon!
-bbq pork on skewers

lots of good snacks, ready made as well as a full grocery.

I don't see it on yelp. It may be closed down. It's not on google, either.

Did anybody watch Mad Men? That episode was so dumb!

Mad Men sucked, but I am hopeful for next week. Looks like it could be a little better.
