crappy valentine's day, everybody!

Ugh, I am in a TERRIBLE MOOD. What a crappy day. Bright spots: BAR finally tore Tower Cafe the new one it deserves, with predictable reader comments.

Another bright spot: visited Quan Nemh, which I hadn't done in a while. They've changed the menu. The now have bun, which I am eager to try since their other items are so good. And they had these savory tapioca dumplings wrapped in what, banana leaves? Lotus leaves? My brain is frozen. They imparted a green tea-like flavor to the glutinous tapioca.

Don't forget the MidMoMoNi screening of The Magic Christian this Thursday at The Verge. Presented by Matias Bombal!

I am really bummed that they changed the headline of the online edition. The hard copy title was something like "everybody loves Tower Cafe and I can't see why."
It totally made my morning yesterday.

I am in a totally pissy mood. But I couldn't be more pleased with that article on the cafe. It boggles my mind how it is possible that so many people are there every brunch. It was nice to be right next door to it, watching the people line up, while reading that article.

Good eye, g, I failed to notice that they changed it. Yesterday the online headline was (I think) "Everyone loves Tower Cafe, the question is why?"

Good to see Tower get a well deserved kicking. I really like this comment from the article: "If you don't like it then your responsiblity is to not go there but to act as judge and jury for others is quite unfair"

How one writes a review without judging something is beyond me.

how about this one:

Wonder why no effort was put into exploring WHY folks go there.

Yes, rather than a review, he should have just interviewed everyone waiting in line and eating there to find out why they like the Tower Cafe. That would be really interesting.

I miss print-only media. Things were better when there were greater barriers to publication. I'm not sure if news commenters are a representative sample of the population but they really make me think more than ever that the general public is full of complete imbeciles.

Glad I could contribute something positive to your otherwise crappy Valentine's Day.
Reader comments notwithstanding, 80 percent of my gazillion emails were in favor of the review. There are apparently lots of people who realize that adding feta to lettuce doesn't make it a Greek salad.
