question

I can't seem to find out where the big fireworks shows are on the 4th. Aren't there some in Old Sac? Or is it just Cal Expo? What time? Help me out here.

Also, did you see that someone else got stabbed at Benny's? Terrible.

Dude got stabbed after walking two blocks away from Bennie's, by someone he says he did not see at the bar.

that is weird! i watched KCRA at the gym yesterday and they talked about a safety training that all bar owners in the region will have to take because of the Marilyn's stabbing. scary.

last year OMF and i missed the fireworks because the held them on the 3rd. i wonder if they'll do that again. i think they were in old sac.

The show at the Hub on the 4th is where the fireworks (figuratively speaking) will be. If any Loft regulars remember The Reds and The Motards fondly, they should see these Bad Sports.

It's funny, but "fondly" is exactly how I don't remember The Motards. Some of the worst house guests U St. ever had.

Just checked. Yeah, fireworks will be held Rivercats style on Friday and Saturday. Sunday, July 4th, is Cal Expo time and the fireworks start at 9:30. Mick Martin and the Bluesrockers have their own brand of fireworks at Cal Expo earlier the same night. Blues fireworks, to be precise.

Speaking of, did you know that Mick Martin was on the set of Tron? I did, cause I've talked to him about it.

To this day when I hear the name Motards I think of what awful guest they were! I loved the polite phone call the next day from the singer asking if he'd left his favorite t-shirt at U St.

Sorry to bring up the house-guests from hell. First few records were great. And a really good show. Didn't know the rest of the story. I figured they woulda been kinda douchey 'cos the singer was boasting very braggartly about his "conquest" of a particularly hot MRR columnist the night before. He actually used that word.

I'm sure they were saints compared to Blanks 77. A starstruck roommate brought them into our house, and they stayed for three days. Busted my prized guitar. It was a Gretsch replica, but a really pretty replica, and the one and only guitar I've ever owned.

Bad Sports are sweet young fellows. I suppose they'll be staying with me afterward.

I don't really recall them "doing" anything aside from sitting around looking pissed that someone gave them a place to stay.

coulda been worse. they could of pulled a rippers move and stayed up all night smoking in your living room, talking about pussy, and barfing in your house plants...

That's what you get for leaving houseplants just sitting around like that.

I put the up the band that the Motards became. They were all nice and they were a good band. I had no problems at all with them. They even gave me records as thanks. I think they even bought their own beer. They're from Denton, Texas aren't they?

Now I'll sit around and try to think of bands we let stay who sucked. I remember throwing firecrackers down at Sublime because they sucked but they stayed at 607, not 605. I'm sure we put up jerks but none that I can think of.

Highway 66 (from Florida) that stayed at 605 a couple times. They left keys behind the 1st time, so when they came back we returned them. They were all a bunch of great guys.

Maybe we just told the jerk bands they should stay at U Street or something. My memory is shot so who knows.
