this is insane

Vanoni posted this. It's Tales of Terror from 1985 at the Stucco Factory. Victor Wong from Big Trouble in Little China can be seen cruising because his son Lyon Wong (who was murdered) is in the band. Also cruising around is his son Duncan Wong. He is now a big-time yoga dude who I heard used to be Madonna's yoga instructor.

Wow,, the Tales of Terror Wiki quotes MidMo!!

Sally Howard (one of first two punks at Foothill High) is there too-first appears at 2:05. Amazing how much of a 'look' there was to that scene- much more homogenous than I remember.

Holy shit, I am in Wikipedia?! I kind of knew that it was the most important article I'd ever written, not because it's great or anything, there was just such a void of information.

There was a big void- it was almost impossible just to get the correct spelling of every band member's name!

I cannot believe how rad everyone looks. There's one or two moshing punks messing up the dancing for everyone. Some things never change.

Did you guys spot Vanoni? Scott saw another guy he knows. Can't remember his name.

I think the Phaby brothers were there. Former Crest royalty. I can't be sure though because I am watching it on my phone.

Is Vanoni in the film? I thought he was running the camera?

Look again, I think someone else is.

I totally see Neil Phaby, he looks rad. So does Duncan. Vanoni is totally there. Also, did I catch a glimpse of Soriano? The big guy moshing is Corey, right?

Yeah, Leon! He totally looks rad. At first I wasn't sure, but who else would be wearing that much makeup and pretty scarves around his waist? I wonder if Neil is there, but he would've been a bit young.

Long lost Leon.

Isn't Dutch Falconi one of Victor Wong's kids too?

Profile of "yoga bad boy" Duncan Wong here ... and mentions he "fell into the gang life" in Davis. Is there a cabal of Nortenos getting their MFA or something?

Dutch was a good buddy of Victor's, then Dutch's mom married Victor, so Victor became Dutch's stepdad, too. This was years after this footage, although Victor & Dutch probably first met in the Stucco Factory days. I got to record Victor doing a voiceover reading of one of his beat poems (you know Victor's a character in a famous beat novel, right?) over a Dutch Falconi song.

which novel?

Big Sur by Kerouac. "Arthur Ma" is Wong.
