Vote for Heather Fargo

Last night I read the cover story on Kevin Johson in Sactown mag and I would like to clear my throat and make this announcement...I am formally endorsing Heather Fargo for mayor. Jeez, KJ is scary as hell. I'd rather have a known evil.

I have to say that I enjoyed reading the Sactown a lot, and it took me almost 40 minutes to get through the whole thing. And that comes on the heels of last months issue with the really good Jackie Greene article. I still hate the fawning letters from d-bags, but if that' s the kind of letters they get... I loved that spread with all the photos of people who got married on Valentine's Day at City Hall. That's fluff, for sure, but it's the good kind of fun, eye candy fluff, not the cringey kind of fluff like "six degrees of sacto" or "off the menu". I liked the article on the local newscaster who helped found the m.i.n.d institute, and I totally agree with their last page about how we need a top-floor restaurant. I like that last page feature in general. They often have good ideas.

The KJ article had no objectivity whatsoever and it's super obvious that's who they're endorsing, but given their vision for Sac that's no surprise. The food coverage this month seems like even more of an afterthought. It's so far back in the mag that I started to think they had eliminated it, and Lark Park covers sweets for the second month in a row.

Liv Moe's show is super good. Make sure you stop by Sac State to check it out. Those of you familiar with mikermike's old chair will be amused to see it woven with synthetic hair looking like some kind of shlumping half-alive creature. Is shlump even a word? It is now, I guess.

Oh yeah, Old Soul is having their bbq thingy again at the Weatherstone this friday. You probably want to show up close to 5 to get food, I'm sure it will sell out again.

As a former potential mayoral candidate myself, I'm a bit disappointed. Why go for Fargo and not one of the other candidates? If one of them can rack up several thousand votes, they'll likely nudge past Fargo in the June election, and force a run-off in November against Johnson.

That way, even if we're stuck with Fargo vs. Johnson in November, we can choose which evil to go with then. There's no need to resign ourselves to those two choices now.

ok, you swayed me. see how easy that is? i didn't even know we had a run-off system until i read that last night. i somehow totally missed the last mayoral election

Liv's show is awesome! I especially admired the photographs. And the chair is awesome. I highly recommend going to the second opening on Thursday the 17th.

See, I knew you'd endorse Fargo. Fuckin clairvoyant, man.

As a formal idealist, I have to say the best political option is to push Fargo into November. She's the only candidate with the name ID to take on KJ--and by November KJ has the capacity to hang himself ...

Have you considered endorsing the thirteen minute version of Ramrod for mayor? It seems like the clear choice for anybody with a sense of civic pride.

I'm going with the Marcus Breton theory that Kevin Johnson spent some of his half-mill infiltrating the Fargo campaign and surreptitiously getting those things made in order to offend all those Sacramento residents with artistic sensibilities.

My only question is why endorse Heather Fargo? What has she really done for Sacramento? I've seen KJ transform Oak Park and I think he will do the same for the whole city. Its time for the capital of the 5th largest economy in the world to modernize.

because she's the lesser of two evils. that's the only reason. i don't like her either.
