the nerve

So, Buk Buk Bigups were not able to play at Larry's birthday party at the Bike Kitchen due to the presence of The Man. The half hour or so between when the cops got there and when we all got kicked out was really confusing. We got shut in, and then lots of shrill announcements were made (we started chanting for more announcements at one point), than we were told to pour out our beer, then we were shushed, as if the cops would forget we were in there, and then told to get out. Well I never!

OK, yeah MidMoMoNi is happening again on Thursday. We are screening Shock Corridor at The Verge.

Granted the shut in was hecka annoying especially with no brew but I couldn't figure out why the cops were there in the first place.

I spent most of the lock down in the bathroom line....

I think the cops were there because there were a 100 people drinking beer in the alley, on a liquor license that expired at ten.

I think at this point throwing a party on Second Saturday is pretty much asking for it. There's still something fundamentally wrong about Larry's birthday being shut down though. That should be an official Sac holiday for christ's sake!

Too bad Bigups blew outta the Hub so fast at their earlier show. They started playing before showtime. Started w/ an instrumental...I thought they were soundchecking. People showed up at 9:20 to learn they'd already finished. People showed up at 10 asking "did we miss Pistol Pete? We just wanna see Bigups." I sent them to that party...didn't know how that panned out.

Bigups sounded maybe better than ever...too bad exactly six people saw it. No one danced. Too awkward.
