who's going?

You guys excited to see Wild Flag tomorrow? Who's going? I'm not, because I figured the ticket should go to someone who had actually heard Sleater Kinney before. I totally missed their deal. But I bet the show is going to be totally fun and I'm bummed I'm missing Grass Widows only show in Sac.

I haven't ever heard S-K either. AI think I really disappointed jamattack! by not having heard of any of the people she knew back in the Riot Grrl (sp?) days. I was at Old Ironsides.

Wasn't Slater Kinney kind of post riot grrl? I was kind of up in that mix but had already moved on by the time they came around. They were not included in my riot grrrl collage that I presented in my art class. Rollins was, though.

They were a little late but they rode in on the Excuse 17/Heavens to Betsy Train. That goes a long way on these things.

I also wonder what is the date range for Riot Grrl? I don't know anyone who rode it out start to finish. Or what that even means.
Yeah, I am asking Grrl questions.
Uncool sure, but seriously no siller than funk punk or what ever was at Ironsides. Just wordier.

I'm gonna say from 1990 to the day Nevermind came out.

No, longer than that I guess. Maybe from 1990 til Kurt Cobain wrote Diet Grrrl on Francis Bean in Sassy.

I went to my first riot grrrl meeting in winter of '92/93 so that was way after Nevermind came out. Excuse 17 wasn't around until maybe a year after that. Sleater-Kinney would have started a couple of years later.
AS long as girls everywhere write slogans on their stomachs, riot grrrl will never die.
jamattack!

I'm confusing me stopping feeling guilty about being a dude with the end of riot grrrl.

I'n sorry to butt in on your Riot Grrl Rrrruminations, but OHMIGOD, you have got to go to the new Ranch Market on Florin. It's janky, it's huge, it smells like fish, and it has about 30 feet of shelving devoted just to refrigerated fresh noodles. There's a Phillipine sweets area! There are shelves and shelves of pork fun. There were 8 or 9 kinds of greens that ended in "choy." And I got about 1/2 lb of basil and mint for $1.38. I'm not a robot spammer, by the way.

Riot Grrrl was on the low down by the time Sleater Kinney was around. The Riot grrrl ladies had officially decided to shut out the media and stopped doing interviews. Bands like Sleater Kinney got to sort of ride on the post Riot grrrl wave without having been a part of it and because they were willing to do interviews, saw a lot more success.
