Rocky! Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!

Good movie. I teared up when he went running in the rain with his dog, Punchy, mostly at the cuteness of a dog wearing a tshirt. You could make a movie called "Dogs wearing shirts and hats" and it would make me cry.

We ate at Maalouf's last night and it was superb. The dude was working the grill AND waiting on everyone until midway through the meal at which point his wife arrived. I tried the soujouk (Armenian sausage) for the first time. The sausage was very tasty and well spiced. There was a big pile of chopped sausage interspersed with well-grilled onions and a side lake of hummus. I really wished mine had come with a big salad like GW's baked kibbee did, but she shared her salad with me so it was OK. We got the labneh of course.

all over west africa, the lebanese are prominent business people, and their food is everywhere. but in liberia it's INSANE. i have eaten more lebanese food here than even in brazil, where lebanese food is like the national cuisine by now. i get soujouk at the grocery store and cut it up in pasta sauces. wicked!

foul is the greaest hangover food, with lots of olive oil, chopped onion, and hot pepper.

that's great that you can get it there. it's one of my favorite cuisines. i like their dessert style a lot, too, not too sweet (honey-sweetened) and with rose water and/or pistachios

What are the prices like at Malouf's? Do you know if they are open for lunch?

Maaloufs is definitely open for lunch. I'm sure they do a big lunch business. They have raised the prices on their dinners and they are a little pricy. However, the sandwiches and lunch plates are reasonable and giant, and you can get all the lunch items for dinner and they just add a buck to the price. Great: eggplant sandwich, kibbeh, labneh, foul, salads, soujouk Just OK: chicken schwarma, the kabobs
