kim's, it's exciting and new

New development on the Corti's front.  And...let the assholeish comments begin!

An awesome new yelper clued me in the Kim's market in Davis and I excitedly headed over there for lunch shortly after I read the review.  As you can see I maybe got a little too excited about the kimchee.  But that whole big jar was only 8 bucks!
They make the kimchee at Kim's and it's pretty good.  It's not as good as my favorite brand, Cosmo, which is so fermented that it sometimes kind of explodes when you open it.  Kim's had none of that fizziness and is not quite hot enough.  Oh well.  But they make a lot of their own pickles in the store, and they are better.  That feast above cost about six dollars.  The plastic clamshell has beef and various banchan, and the lettuce leaf has yummy salty bean paste inside.  The sushi has regular and spicy tuna.  But it's not raw, it's tuna salad from canned tuna.  It's funny but tasty.  It also has lettuce, pickle, fake crab, and some other stuff.  They also had cooked beef sushi, and a small vegetable section in the store, which will be great for cooking future dinners.  I was so excited to find this oasis of culinary quality within the wasteland of Davis that I almost got hit by a car leaving the store.  Dork!

I'm trying to make an assholeish comment with "the untimely demise of Chooz-a-Pasta" as the punchline but I've got nothing...

That was a blow to the chooz-a-pasta community. It never fully recovered.

oh yeah, I meant the assholeish comments on the sacbee, cuz there were already three up, one of which was about how "filthy" the store is.

I really wish downtown sac had some more food for lunch. I can't afford to eat out everyday but I am burned out on my choices already.

If only there was a Chooz-a-Pasta

wow, I used the word "excited" three times in that post and the word "awesome" once. That's probably why I didn't win best blog. That, and the fact that I'm not a sexy twin.

Yeah, fuck Corti's. I resent that it even exists. Whiners worrying about their liberal elite food. Plus every grocery worth its salt these days has its own line of fake organic products. But not Corti's; get with the 21st century dude.
I got some organic Safeway yogurt the other day, looked at the ingredients and was so relieved that the locust bean gum in it was organic. And so was the autolyzed yeast paste in the frozen lasagne. So who needs cheap weasels like Corti? Safeway has got you covered. Stop bitching.

Maybe that didn't make any sense; or maybe it did?

It's hard to beat sexy twins. Also, my endorsement was the kiss of death.

I guess if you count the blog post title, I used some form of the word "excite" 4 times within the post. I guess I'm just excitable.

Chook-a-Pasta Puke-a-Sauce! I lived a block away when it was on 21st street and ate there lots during the rise and fall. Obvs my taste in food is hopeless...

My favorite Davis food options-
(in no real order)

1) Ding How
2) Symposium
3) Villiage Bakery
4) Burgers in Brew
5) Noodle Express
6) Guadalahara

There's probably more. When you grow up here for part of your life, you are OK with the food choices. Plus, I'm really not that picky. When I was a kid, we were scrounging for change for crappy taco bell burritos.

The only way to make a burger any better is to dip it in some brew.

I couldn't help overhearing about your Burgers in Brew concept. I would like to provide the start-up money for this brilliant project.

I actually loved my burger at burgers and brew. It is connected to crepeville and they are going to open one here sometime. I'm not big on crepeville though.
