Osteria

Has anyone eaten at Osteria in Davis? I always thought it was Macaroni Grill-style from how it looks on the outside but the website is hella fancy. They give you a free glass of prosecco with your bread! That rules. I ended up looking at this cuz I remembered that their other restaurant that's in Sac (Il Posto) has fresh pasta, which may make in the only place downtown to have all fresh pasta. However I don't think Il Posto gives you the prosecco.

Have you tried Il Posto? Menu looks good but pricey..

The linguine, bucatini and hand-cut rosemary noodles are all made in house at Paragary's and I'm pretty sure at Spattaro's. The hand-rolled black pepper linguine, freeform "lasagnette" and spaghetti alla chittara at Mason's are all made in house. I think its the small shell, tube and "rice" type pastas that most places choose to buy dry.

I like dried pasta better than fresh, with a few exceptions.

Another downtown place that has all fresh, housemade pasta is Sofia; the only exception is their cappellini (angel hair). I thought their pasta was great but the other food was just okay.
