Big things are afoot for the Kings.
First, Adelman's out. Probably for the best, especially because now Artest won't have to give up his salary for next year. He so crazy.
I was already planning on coming posting about the Kings when I got back from lunch (at Crepeville-hey instead of calling it Crapville, as many do, how about Crackville, for the abundance of buttcracks? just an idea), because I was perusing a sports section from sunday (it's soooo annoying that crackville doesn't throw out their old papers) and I happened upon this absurd article. If almost every single person involved with the Kings got an A or B, then why the fuck did they lose in the first round of the playoffs? What did all the Spurs get, an A++++++++? Not that it really matters.

Now if everythig falls to shit next season without Adelman I'll have the 'oofs to blame. That tears it; I'm getting back in my car and heading back to Arcata at once.
That's sad, even Ron Artest insisted he would play for free next season if it guaranteed the Kings would keep Bonzi Wells and Rick Adelman. Isn't he contracted?
I think Adelman's contract ended last year & he signed a one-year extension. My feeling is that, since it's so soon after the end of the Kings season, a coach the Maloofs really wanted must've become available. I've heard Don Nelson's name mentioned in the rumor mill. I have a soft spot for Adelman but I've also enjoyed watching the Kings morph in to new team over the last few years & maybe it's time for him to go.

I'm bummed Adelman is leaving. I think he's the perfect coach for players like Chris Webber, Bonzi Wells and Ron Artest, players that had reputations of being difficult. They all seem to love playing for him and flourish. I think it's a big mistake for him to be cut loose. If The Kings had decided to keep Peja and build the team around him, then I would have said it might be time for ol' Stonewall Adelman to leave.

I think that maybe that's part of problem with Adelman, though. He revolves his coaching around those players, even when they aren't playing well. Remember when Webber came back from being injured and fucked up the amazing chemistry the Kings had created when he was out? And Adelman wouldn't stop playing him, even when they were losing in the playoffs!!! It drove me crazy!

What you said, Connie -- supppose The New Guy fucks up th' dynamic and Artest gets wiggity (although admittedly, that's his issue)? Fortunately, since the team is gelling into a defense-oriented squad, there's some allure for a big-name coach to come on board and make it better.
Plus, they gotta find a way to trade for KG, in my humble view.
That's true Brew! Although once the playoffs started, Chris Webber was about the only starter, aside from Bibby, that really showed up that year. Hopefully getting rid of Adelman will turn out to be a really good thing. Someone mentioned Don Nelson. I would be OK with that, should they ask my opinion.

I am hoping the Kings go after a younger, more defensive-oriented coach, such as Rick Carlisle, Jeff Bzdelik, Terry Porter, etc. Rick Adelman has definitely been a winner in the regular season, but we've won something like 4 of 12 playoff series over the past 8 years. After awhile, you just run out of excuses.
Yeah, it's like the Kings are the new Jazz.
