no msg guy

I'm sorry, I know it's not nice to pick on people, but this guy is simply the worst yelper ever. He has been driving me nuts for a while but now he has just gone over the top. How can you say a place has great food but is too expensive and give it one star? just read his reviews, there are too many things to say about it. giving nevada city one star?

He confuses me. The only food choices in SF are fish or In-n-Out burgers?

What about the cream puffs?!

yeah, that is messed up. He is basically screwing up the restaurant's rating only because the place is obviously out of his budget range. That isn't right. I am going to send him a message that he should reconsider his ratings. He seems a bit eager to give out 1 stars.

Ok, to his credit, he did respond back to me and it sounds like his 1 star rating was not just the price, but he didn't like the atmosphere or service.

Agreed.

Reviews aside, I'm mainly concerned that anyone would really LOL at "Blooming Idiots."

916dave-agreed to what?

How bad would the atmosphere and service have to be to warrant giving a place, overpriced or not, with great food 1 star?

Maybe if the waiter exposed himself to you and there was blood on the floor or something. (like here).

If it's not so bad that you need to call the cops and/or the health department, then 1 star's a bullshit review. And if it is that bad, but you neglect to mention in your review, that's bullshit too. So either way, that review blows.

Have you been to Lucille's? Does it in fact have great food?

that article is gross! no, i haven't been to lucille's, but i have been to nevada city and i know it deserves more than one star! this guy loves outback steakhouse. enough said.

Dude has multiple reviews in which he claims the food made his wife sick/vomit.

Sounds like we need a to stage a bulimia intervention with Mrs. Msg Guy.

OMG just found another one which made his wife sick AND informed that that in addition to MSG this dude hates undocumented workers also:

"Their food makes my wife VERY VERY SICK.
Ruben (the owner) hires ILLEGAL ALIENS and is well known in the community for almost having blown up the entire Old Town Auburn in a propane tank explosion (negligent operation of a gas grill at the Cinco De Mayo celebration)."

This is probably the kind of guy who eats an entire meal then asks for a full refund due to poor service, spot on fork, etc.

He gave Bel Air Chinese Food 3 stars. That speaks volumes as to his credibility, you know?

Is Tower going under? Not the records, but the movie place. I've heard they quit booking movies, cut back the hours and they don't sell popcorn.

Jeez, what a complete bonehead. Bagging on Cafe Mekka in Nevada City because the customer service isn't up to Starbucks standards (even though they speak the common tongue there; order "large" and you get a large, not like ordering a "tall" to get a smal and being forced to remember "veni venti" when you're ordering that cocoa-hazelnut-mint-caramel gheyocchino with extra sprinkles)? Where do these imbeciles come from? Then he dumps on Nevada City in general. And then he grouses about a bunch of other stuff. Dude, stick to stripmallistan and leave the places with character to those of us who can appreciate them.

i haven't heard that tower is not selling popcorn, maybe the machine was broken? i think it is struggling. the crest is suddenly getting all the big movies and tower cut out their first matinee show of the day. i love the tower, but the crest deserves the business because it is locally owned and run with TLC, so good for the crest. i saw the painted veil there on friday, i was just eh about it but GW liked it more than me.

i just watched Curse of the Golden Flower at the Tower on Satuday (opening night was the day before). i also ate a home depot sized bucket of popcorn.
