You guys probably read this on fb, but here's a link in case you haven't. An outsider's opinion on how bad we're getting screwed with the new arena plan.
So, here's some photographic proof that I often lose my shit at the Halloween show. This is me ripping Joel's shirt off as he performs as George Michael. This picture is pretty awesome. I don't know who took it. Does anyone know what year this was? Sorry Joel.
Now that there's no MidMo, I guess I will be writing about food more.
Went out for breakfast at OneSpeed. It looked beautiful but tasted just ok. Everything needed salt. This carnitas breakfast needed hotter salsa. This is my dish: roasted chicken hash with shitake mushroom and peppers. It was kind of cold, one of the eggs had a jellied white part, which grosses me out, but that I know is hard to avoid if you're trying not to over-poach. It was bland overall.
This is bun bo hue from Pho King #2. This place seems awesome. It has some unsual dishes on the menu, like a duck salad and an ox pizzle (dick) salad. I did not try those yet. EC got the grilled pork chop and it came with a really pretty little egg cake with jelly noodles and ground pork.

That was halloween 98.
wow, so I was only 13.
That egg cake thing is called "trung mam hap" which translates literally as "egg fermented fish paste steamed" though I'm not sure that's a good translation of "mam"
Good stuff though. Here's a recipe;
For some annoying reason I can't paste the link. Oh well, if you search trung mam hap in Google Books there's a good recipe for it

Washington Post link doesn't go to the Op Ed, it goes to a general story about the Arena..

Old time Sac nerd Alert! You can see the old facade on the building on Broadway between 7th and 8th right now.

P.S. Isn't there a pic of Joel looking horrified while you rip his shirt off? I want to see that!
I have a mental picture of it. It's in my mental slideshow of embarrassing things I have done. It's a pretty long slideshow, you probably wouldn't want to sit through it.
In that picture from Pho King #2, is that dark thing lotus root or is it meat? It looks like lotus root that's been marinated, which is making my mouth water.

Ha! I see Leon in that old Halloween show photo. Was that really 1998? What was the theme? Did Girls, Glam and Goth happen the year before or after? Was that too many questions? How about now?
NOL
Its 98 I know that for sure.
British Invasion? George Michael, Dexy's, Rod Stewart all played.

DKK, the dark thing in the bun bo hue is blood cake. And I'm guessing your mouth has stopped watering. :)

Those coagulated blood cubes are easy for the timid unless they know what it is. I tell people it's liver, and then I tell 'em the truth after they've eaten it. They taste kinda like liver, but lighter and without the aftertaste. They also give you the iron benefits of liver minus so much cholesterol.

I like it when I eat it, even knowing what it is, because it really is pretty palatable, but I still feel wary each new time I'm faced with it for some reason. So far, I still can't just dive right into it; maybe some day.

You look like the Cat In The Hat when he is being wickedly graceful. Example: http://www.stephenkoschal.com/drseuss_sp.jpg
I wonder what the goldfish had to say about this.
