idea

Pink Floyd won for best Halloween band, followed by The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I had an odd fascination with Spaghetti Westerns as a kid, but have not watched any since then.  What's the best one.

Al and I came up with the idea for an awards ceremony for the Halloween show, and of course the bands need to play at it.  We tried to come up with a catchy name and settled on....the sammies.  Or maybe the hammies?  Moons over my hammie?

"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" is still the best by far.

"Young Guns" is a classic.

The Sham Wows?

You can screen some award certificates on actual Sham Wows!

The Weenies!

DP and I talked about having an awards ceremony for our friends once too. Unfortunately most of the details went Up in Smoke.

I was gonna do a tour of awards ceremonies. I budgeted the money for the trophies. That was easy 'cos Wacky Willy's ("The Store With Everything You Don't Need") in Portland had many trophy parts to make it easy to build your own cheaply. But then I tried to budget the time to make them....that was the kicker.

I'm late, but Once Upon a Time in The West is my favorite. Fucking Bronson is in it!

Oh, I forgot. I am all about The Wild Bunch. Love Borgnine, love William Holden.

And Bad Day in Black Rock which isn't a western, but it isn't not a western. I may be a bit Borgnine-crazy. Also featuring Lee Marvin.

Speaking of Borgnine, they are showing Marty at Central Library on 1/3.

If you've never seen "High Noon" or "The Searchers" you really should.

John Ford's westerns are wonderful. "My Darling Clementine" is one of his best films, I think. And, it's fun to watch "The Magnificent Seven" and then watch "Seven Samurai." I can't decide who's more fun to watch on screen, Yul Brenner or Toshiro Mifune. It bums me out that we'll probably never see actors like those two again.
