I'll miss you, pizza rolls

I want to do a post that will just stir up shit about local breweries but I guess I should be diplomatic.  BAR wrote a piece on New Helvetia Brewing that doesn't  mention how the beer actually tastes. I haven't really heard anything either way, but they're not exactly lighting the world on fire by brewing a lager, a stout, and an IPA.  And the brewer is from River City Brewing? Not a good sign.

The piece on Pyramid closing had a rad quote from Steve Hansen which acknowledges their foul beer instead of just being diplomatic,

"(Pyramid) couldn't compete," said Councilman Steve Hansen, who represents downtown. "They weren't offering as good a product as their neighbors, and they fell out of favor. This isn't a body blow, this is a good opportunity."

Good for you, Steve.  I was perusing the comments below the Pyramid piece and amidst the anti state worker ranting was one that made me LOL "I'll miss you, pizza rolls"

This is almost as bad and when the secret government conspiracy removed Arby's from The Kaye!
I dont care what they put in as long as its not too fancy, has beer on tap and doesnt take too long.

Everyone knows what I'm talking about but no one will say it in print. Including me!

Maybe someone will log in anonymously and post it?

Kind of passive aggressive to almost stir the pot, no?

I actually got drunk and said in person to one of them. And it worked out shockingly well, actually, because we're decent buds now!

I killed my Yahoo account; do people talk about this stuff on the DIY List?

You called it! I am totally passive aggressive. I'm not being sarcastic.

As an owner of a brewery-to-be I'd appreciate any direct feedback that someone had be it about the beer, the staff or the space. So if we ever have the chance to meet, feel free to tell me my IPA sucks ;)

wait, I get peoples psuedonym's mixed up, do I know you? Basically it all boils down to people talk hella crap on Ruhstaller but their press is always glowing. And they get a fuck ton of it.

There, I said it!

I have heard New Helvetia has a black saison, but I haven't been there yet. I am sure it's not as good as Stone's Perfect Crime, but I want to try it nonetheless. I am Saison - crazy, like a chick.

NM, there is nothing happening on the DIY list except there are some rooms opening up in Chillanova house.

Some Ruhstaller is good, some is bad. The marketing and planning is very good. I suspect they will do fine in the long run.

Becker I don't think we've met, or if we did I didn't know you wrote here. My name is AJ and I'm one of the Bike Dog owners (brewery to be in West Sac).

PS keep drinking Berryessa, Chris is knocking it out of the park.

I disagree. I think all Ruhstaller is bad or mediocre.

Chris Miller is a straight up genius.

Excited about a West Sac brewery

Re: Ruhstaller--agreed.

Re: New Helvetia--I had their Steam Beer during the soft opening, and I was surprised to detect a familiar off-flavor that I've experienced in my own homebrewing. I haven't gone back yet, so for now I'll choose to believe it was just a fluke.
