not better

Dang, I thought these photos were better. They are not better.  I got a little snack at Kru before I went to an exciting place for an Edible assignment (hint: this place has dhosas that are at least three feet long).   I asked if the uni was good, no, like, really good and the chef let me inspect it.  Not a runny spot to be seen.  This was the best uni I've had, probably ever.  That stuff on the top is kombu jerky with a little sweetness to it.
Who needs foie gras when you can have monkfish liver? Not me?  I think foie is gross anyways.

I guess the fine steps/peach kelli pop/croissants show on Thursday is at the Press.  I thought Bows.  Fine Steps now features the lovely Matt Roberts on, I think, bass. And Kyle's still in it? Who's the drummer? DJs Mike C and Mantranga. Can I request that MC Ham might tell Matranga to reign in the treble a wee bit? Some of those oldies can really get shrill played really loud.

Is maybe it time for an updated band list over on the Halloween Show blog? So we know who is actually practicing, etc.

Yes!!
That list has got to be getting shorter by now right?

Also an updated list?

Pyramid on 'The Kaye' went out of business. I blame beer week.

-pliny the brah

that's cool if they didn't make it because of their fake craft beer. their beer is nastay. For some reason I ate a fried onion thing there and it was one of the grossest things I've ever had in a restaurant. Far grosser than eating cow dick.

They had a few beers I liked. I'll mainly miss it since it was our "go to" spot for work lunches. I could eat lunch and drink with co workers while secretly watching UFC on tv.

Can you advise me on how I find out what UFC or MMA matches are worth tuning into? I am verrryyyyy interested.

not sure if serious.

on march 16th, George St Piere vs Nate Diaz has potential to be a great fight.

UFC usually puts out a "Best Fights of the Year" comp so then you dont have to worry about wasting 15 minutes watching a boring hug-fest. Sadly, netflix doesnt have any UFC stuff.

I am serious as a kick to the groin that ruptures someone's testicles. I will put that one on my calendar. The extended sweaty hug-fests are pretty much what I'm in it for.

Pyramid is better than Rubicon, but that's not saying much.

Hey Tim Mantranga/Matranga here. Ha, that's cool, I laughed when I heard about this. I didn't realize, but I'll gladly turn down the treble, but only on the oldies. haha. Actually I'll just play soul and funk. Dance party time. And easier on the ears right? I'll see you guys at the Fine Steps!

Damn, I didn't mean to be a jerk. Thanks for not getting mad! I look forward to a 20% less treble set

No sweat, ha ha, all is cool! I will make sure to turn the treble down a bit. See you then

it's astounding: sooooooo many "DJs" don't EQ at all. EQ is the key! that's why your mixer has knobs for hi, medium and lo freqs! every record/.wav/.mp3 sounds different and needs your attention to make sure A) it doesn't sound like ass, and B) it doesn't sound completely shockingly jarringly different from the song you're transitioning out of.

and remember your monitors/headphones don't sound anything like the house system. go out on the floor once in a while and see what it sounds like.

pro-tip: 60s and early 70s music with horns almost always needs you to roll off the mid-range. the horns on old latin records will punch a hole in your ear and clear the floor pronto.

if you're not interested in EQing, use some kind of compressor at least.

end of rant.

ooohh, technical talk. I like it.
