right?

Waaaaiiittt a hot minute.  I took an unscientific poll of two Tower employees in their late twenties (which isn't even young, sorry guys) and they had never heard of Peaches.  The two things I heard were, "Isn't she a drag queen" and "she's from the Bay Area, right" Augh! (as Charlie Brown would say) and Ack! (as Cathy would say).  I guess they won't know whether I'm good or bad (I will be good). Of course, they were both from Yuba City, so you gotta take that into consideration.  It didn't even have the internet until last year.  (actually is CG from Yuba?)

Screature! I will be there at 8 which will mark the 586th time I have been fooled by a start time.  Good thing I'm married to someone who is also always fooled.  And who will never let me forget the fact that I made him miss the Art Museums in Big Sur and then they broke up not long after that. Right, honey?

Yes, we know you know that peaches are the things you all go pick barefoot every spring and then have some folksy parade and then go to that one kind of good bar and talk about the glory days of playing for the Honkers. But Becky is talking about a totally different kind of Peaches.

First of all, peaches are a summer fruit.

Second, I know that picking peaches or hanging out at the annual peach festival isn't the same as going to old navy and Chili's or whatever it is that you do in Elk Grove, but there's no need to be bitter.

Third, in YC we can appreciate the wonder of a perfect peach pie, but also listen to the music of Peaches.

Peaches < peaches.

Hey Old Navy and Chili's are on the Laguna side of 99. That's the gentrified part of Elk Grove. Don't get me wrong, there's some fine folks from that side of town (though some tend to make poor decisions when it comes to who they marry) and I gladly include them in the EG crew, now that the great EG Punk War of 99 is behind us. But everybody knows the true Elk Grove lies east of 99. We've got Bob's Bar. We've got the EG Club. We've got the Wrangler, where there is still a bullet hole in the wall from a gunfight between ACTUAL COWBOYS AND INDIANS. We've got a nudist resort. Yuba City doesn't stand a chance.

I love this thread! Can it continue forever? I had no idea Cody was from Elk Grove. People are from Elk Grove? And what is this nudist thing?

Cody said...

I'm actually from Wilton, which is the rural area south of Elk Grove. The nudist resort is there.

My friends that delivered pizza would have to deliver there sometimes.

There are others from Elk Grove besides me, but I guess not too many.

lots of jokes could be made about pizza and naked people. hmm...let's see

who ordered the pepperoni?
those aren't pepperonis!

I smell anchovies, who ordered anchovies?
that's not anchovy you smell!

who ordered the thick crust?
that thick crust you see is not pizza crust!

I guess it's all along those lines

@peaches:

my 13-year-old "little brother", talking to his school friends on the phone about their dance routine for the talent show:

"Forget that. There's no way we're dancing to Gnarls Barkley. We're not like, 100 years old!"
