shows!

A friend and I have an ongoing argument about whether America's Favorite Thing (we have this phrase trademarked)is tits or paper towels. If you think it is the former you will enjoy the show that the Bananas are playing in SF tomorrow. It is a very weird show. It is someones wedding reception who the Bananas don't know, they are playing first, and the rest of the lineup is a burlesque show and a Guns and Roses cover band?! Anyone can go, though, it's at a club.

If you don't go to that, the Spiral States are playing on friday at the Distillery. And Rock the Light is playing saturday at the Crest? What's up with that?

Sorry this is off the subject. I hear a rumor of rollback prices at Biba's from August 1-12. Can anyone confirm this?

yeah,I read someething about it but can't find where I read it. I guess you'd have to give them a call. She is offering dishes from the past that were popular favorites and charging the 1986 price for them.

Also, I guess 55 degrees has a new prix fixe dinner for pretty cheap, but I can't find info for that on the internet, either!

"To recognize the 20th anniversary of her midtown Sacramento restaurant Biba, owner/chef Biba Caggiano is supplementing her regular summer menu with a tasting menu of dishes popular during the restaurant's first three years.

They include cold veal sliced and served in a sauce of mayonnaise and tuna ($6.25), penne with prosciutto, shallots, tomatoes, peas and cream ($8.75), breaded lamb chops with swwet-and-sour onions ($13.75), a salad of green and yellow tomatoes with red onion and fresh basil ($3.50), and baked peaches with an Amaretto zabaglione ($3.50).

The prices are the original prices, but this is a tasting menu, so portions won't be as large as they were originally. The menu will be available for dinner only, starting Aug. 1 and continuing to Aug. 12.""

There is a new Afghani restaurant, on 8th and J. I got take-out from there tonight. The owner is really sweet and I liked the food I got, but I want to return and try their lamb, carrot, raisin rice dish.

I keep forgetting to try that place! Next week...

The Afghani place is quite good! I tried their lunch buffet, but I would like to go back and hand pick my dinner items.

that afghani restaurant gets mad business during the lunch rush downtown. every time i go in there for lunch i'm waiting for a table! but the food is well worth it. even for vegetarians there are enough dishes to please.

The owner of the Afghani place is sooo nice and he will take the time to explain the menu items to you if you have questions, especially if you go after the rush is through.
