Man, The Stepfather still holds up as a great (and funny) scary movie. One thing that I've never seen, because I think I only watched it on TV a coupla times is the gratuitous nude scene with the (supposedly) 16 year old daughter. If you haven't seen this movie, rent it!

The power of this blog has apparently made juniorquenchfan 300 bucks from checking the website that I linked. I only expect a 10% comission on that. I'll accept a check.

I don't understand Charles comment about the RTL show. If you have a show on December 3rd, why would you want the Halloween show (why are we even still calling it that?) on that day? Can someone clarify?

As for the Heritage Party 2, when is this going to happen? I hear the theme this year is "American Heritage" and I'm all over that like tree jizz on my car.

Hi!!

Umh, Rock the Light is hoping that the Christmas show IS NOT scheduled for December 3rd. At least that's what I think Charles id saying.

I do want to host Heritage Party 2: Operation American Freedom or Operation America!! or whatever to promote Patriotism. You can dress in a flight suit and jacket (MArgot) or like a founding father (Paul) or Davey Crocket (Vince) or entirely in American Flag aparrel, complete with banadana (Jay). I plan to hang a banner in the living room that reads: Mission Accomplished and one on the porch that reads, "The Gentelman's Club: Where Irony Never Dies".

Songs that shoudl be performed by the likes of Creedance, The Coug, Bruuuuuuuuuce, and of course, "We'll put a boot in your ass its the American way".

If this makes no sense its because I did notr sleep last night.

It was cool to hear Rock the Light on Sounds of Sac. I don't listen to KWOD (or the radio) much, but I'm glad I turned it on at the time I did yesterday. I shut it off right after their song. Well, I mean, after the Gorillaz's song that has "ass crack" in it. Heckamax, do your students know you rock?

Sweet!

The students don't know that I rock. When I was at the High School, stray students would know that I was a bad ass and that I shredded. At the Middle School level they simply don't give an S.

Still, they're mad for Green Day. AND(!) a kid told me he recently bought the new Bon Jovi!! My jaw nearly dropped.

I thought Bon Jovi was his own entity now and trying to give the old acting thing a go? I can't blame the kid for loving BJ, though. Heckamax, you will always be famous to me for baffling Prof. Castellano's American Identities class when you told them the story about the Leeds Devil. They were all like, "Huh?" It was precious.

December 10th isn't too bad either. People might need an extra week to re-group after Thanksgiving.

I'm not against the 3rd, but I'm just saying, is the 10th really that bad?

Sure, the 10th.

Now let the flood of "no I can't do the 10th" begin.

yes, I meant no 3rd. And i vote for the tenth. RTL alreayd cancelled one show on 11/5, and I'd be heckbummed if we had to cancell another. Furthermore, one of the bands on the bill is Virgina's (amy p's old roomate) new band "Westwind". Also, It will be the debut of The new band i sing and play guitar in with my roomate.

I remember all the T.A.s had to go up and hold a discussion. I think you were the first one in the series and you didn't know what they expected. You pretty much went up and just bullshat for twenty minutes, (which I admired you for cuz I could never pull that off) but the Leed's Devil Story went a little something like this, "I've been reading a lot...I've been reading about this mythical character called The Leeds Devil...He was also known as the Jersey Devil...He looked like a baby when he was born, but then he transformed and started eating peoples' animals and babies..." Ok, it's not verbatim. You had some humorous embelishments. Some of the old ladies in the stands were like, "WTF?" Or "I'm paying money for this class." Most others had a glaze-over.
My first favorite moment from that class was when Prof. Rice noticed someone in the class wearing a t-shirt with huge letters spelling out OLD NAVY and he's all, "Where did you get that shirt from?" Then he saluted him, military style and mumbled, "oh, I thought you were in the Navy."

I have no recollection of that moment. However, knowing Castellano, it was possibly something like,"Allright, now the TAs are gonna tell us what they have been studying...take it, Allen!" with no warning whatsoever.

My favorite moment from that class is when, on the last day, as a final lecture, Castellano started dishing on the other professors in the department. She basically told a class of 50 plus students who the English department was dating. My jaw hit the floor -- I still can't believe that happened.

Yeah, Tact wasn't her middle name (I think it was Guadalupe). She was nice enough, but I never felt like I learned anything from her. I guess that's what the T.A.s and the panel of Profs were for. I did walk away knowing more about the asthetics of poetry (whatever the eff that means) and what baby devils like to eat. So, that was eighteen grand well spent. I must not have listened to a word she said that last day. I wonder what she could have possibly dished, though. Weren't most of the faculty older married people?

Dude!!

Castellano began by saying, "Oh you want to know about our panel professors?" and, of course, I think that she is going to give a list of credentials, published essays, etc. Instead, she said, "Prof. so and so (identities are not mentioned to protect the guilty) likes to date Asian women, he's not into women of his own age. Prof. This and that just got divorced and is dating a much younger woman who lives in Davis, etc., etc."

My big joke, which I didn't go through with, was to transcribe the "lecture" on the board.

I really do like Castellano. She's a very sweet, kind woman who ended up taking a much needed break from the profession.

Heckamax,

I guess I was eating Corn Nuts that day or something, because I seriously didn't hear any of that. If you would have transcribed it on the board, I probably would have noticed that.

I tried the teaching program at Sac State. Got to observations. I observed for three weeks (one week was in a repeater course for seventh grade English) and the kids were so disrespectful. I felt bad for the teacher and realized that I would have lost it and gone off on the kids. I realized that I didn't have that much patience and I actually love kids. Just not in large quantities, apparently. I backed out of the program, but still have to option to reenter at a later date if I reconsider. I don't think that's happening. GOOD teachers are heroes for sure.

On an off note, do you read humor? I like David Sedaris's stuff, but I've read all of it. I heard Sarah Vowell's pretty good. Anyone good?
