what's up with that?

Kate W.'s review of Ruth's Chris's Steak's House's is pretty stomach-turning. I would never eat there unless someone else took me. And even then I would just ask them to take me somewhere else. So nevernevernever.

I can't believe that there is a Sac band named Hotel Pistol and one named Hot Pistol.

Oh yeah, I forgot but writegrrl reminded me, someone got shot inside the Monte Carlo. I haven't been in this band in at least 7 years despite the fact that I have lived right near it for years.

Now that the Band That Time Forgot show is cancelled (for mysterious reasons, I smell a conspiracy), do they have any other upcoming shows?

Also, it's total bullshit that Heyamoto answered this question and not mine.

Unfortunately, no. As a reparation, Melendez is trying to work out a Distillery show with the same line-up some time in the near future, but there are no current details.

That IS bullshit, especially since the asker has lived in Sacramento for a year. Don't you think she could have perhaps discovered the answer for herself? (If there is, in fact, a definitive answer to a question about the punctuality of buses in Sacramento)

That review sounds pretty good to me - except for the cost thing. A whole stick of better? Hell- where do I sign up?

Welp, now I'm so not going to the Monte Carlo when I'm down there next month, even though Connie's husband gave it a generally ringing endorsement. Shame, too, because a bar that starts pouring at 6 a.m. is one after my heart.

Beckler, what was your question to mrs Mensa?

What happened with the BTTF gig? The one at Delta of Venus is off? Huh?

I encourage people to go to the Monte Carlo. It really isn't a bad place. I would sooner have expected gunplay at Primos, but not there. It is a neat little bar. Nice folks. Don't punish them because someone tried out his Dick Cheneyy impression there. How could they have known/stopped it?

Since when does Mike Banana go to the Monte Carlo? He's just trying to sound cool. He's such a hipster poseur!

oh yeah, and my question was about the rivercats name.

With all the other restaurants available, I would rather not go to Ruth's Chris, Melting Pot, PF Chang's, Benihana, etc etc. Mainly because we had all that in Ohio. And that's all there is when I go home. ;)
And, as a rule, stick of butter in cake = good, stick of butter on steak = unnecessary. If you have a good cut of meat why disguise it with sauces or condiments or...butter?

It IS a shame about Monte Carlo, I heard they were going to have some cool Mardi Gras type jazz thing...

I don't think Mike does go to the Monte Carlo; I don't think any happily married men go there. He even looked at me funny for asking about the place. Of course, I'm pretty much full of inane questions at all times.

If you are itching to lay down some cash on some serious steak, go to Morton's. I've been there twice and it totally rules. They do a fanciful table presentation of the meat, raw meat in saran wrap, along with a live lobster that may or may not decide to start moving while the waiter is describing the cuts of meat to you. I think it's worth it for a special occasion and you eat meat.

Poeple get stabbed and shot their all the time, A old timer ex skateboarder got shot in the neck their while in his car leaving after a verbal altercation inside about 4 to 6 years ago, A friend of mine got robbed and beat down in the back while smoking a joint.

I don't go their anymore, Don JU's AKA Primos is closed down and I ain't never seen the level of tension their like I have seen and the Monte.

P.S. I used to go often for the pool competition.

Of course Heyamoto is unwilling to ask the tough questions about the River Cats! The Bee has given the River Cats and their mascot a free pass for far too long! For example, did you know that Dinger's degree from De Paws University is actually just an HONORARY degree? Dinger, I demand that you come forward to set the record straight!

I don't get Ruth's Chris. I never go out for steak. Steak is one of the things I can make at home. It's easy, even a moron can fix himself a steak in five minutes. When I go out, I want to eat something I can't make myself.

Heyamoto, as a fellow scribe I'm calling you out -- I bet the River Cats question was much juicier. Bus times are just not a reader-grabber (surveys have repeatedly
shown this). And it's almost baseball season! The trains run on time, thanks to Francisco Franco, 96 percent of the time all year. Now go get into some serious sexy trouble on this mascot schizzity.

the monte carlo scares the jeebus out of me.

maybe all the old timers spread rumors about the knifings and shootings so that youngsters don't try to take over their bar. it seems to be one of the few downtown this hasn't happened to.

oh well, there are plenty of places in this town to drink at 6am as it is.
