Questions questions

The Worm has weighed in today so maybe Tower is listening up. What is going on with your employee discount issues? I don't think I blogged about this. It affects the Crest, too (or effects it, I get it mixed up). If you don't know, and if you care, the Tower and Crest both got the majority of their employee discounts yanked at the Tower books/records/video complex on Broadway. No more free rentals, no more discounts on merchandise. And, conversely, the Tower retail peeps got their free movie privileges suspended. What do you guys think about this? Has it caused any tensions with the people across the street? Does it make anybody think they should quit? I'm curious about the repercussions. This obviously makes the Tower chain look more desperate than ever. I wonder when it will go under. Or maybe it's doing better lately, I'm not sure.

worm here,
i really don't think it's that big of a deal....the theatre discount was kinda lousy anyway.....rentals....well they don't have that many good movies.....everyone should get netflix...it's pretty cheap and they have just about everything!.....boxsets included!....i'm currently awaiting the arrival of the tales from the crypt box set.....so, we should all quit being babies about it....i mean we still get in to movies for free just about anywhere in sac.....thats a much better perk than the tower thingys.....am i wrong?...i mean we don't have to pay for any movie.......thats 9.50$...as for the people over at the video, books and records....well i used to work there and i think they're all mostly pretty nice people and have felt that this was an unfair decision made by their corporate office....i do still let people in for free from across the street and i still give them free drinks and popcorn too!....they still give me their discount every now and then...but i know it's much easier for us to hook them up than it is for them to hook us up....so we should just be nice because in time it will mostly likley turn around and everyone will be happy....their corporate office is forever chaging thier minds on policy....so...who cares.....i don't think it's that big of a deal...i have heard people say we don't have any perks now....thats just a silly thing to say....and that the time to quit is near......we still have the best job (not speaking of the pay of course)..in sac!...we sit around , hang out, talk about shit, talk shit...we're all friends and thats much more valuble than any discount in the world to me!
so i think we don't need to be sore about it...lets let them have their soda and movies...because working over at those three places really really really fucking sucks!

am i the only one who is upset about the way taco bell has treated me as of recently? i do belive this is a much greater matter!
if they weren't so delicious i would be much more upset and i would probably be a wreck and would cry at the drop of a burrito, but let's fight the good fight and make it known that.....i.....am.......amazing.....

kisses and best wishes

the worm speaks for the worm alone. the fact is we still pretty much make minimum wage with no possibility for tips and now 2 of our 3 main benefits are taken away (free rentals and discounts on purchases). Worm doesn't care because like he says, he still gets his. There's a word for that: treason.

I think the worm's point of view is interesting and he makes some valid points. Personally I think that Tower video is a worthless waste of space. Netflix is a superior alternative (for me, though, not for everyone, people who just want a new release or a TV show to watch will do fine there). When I worked at Tower, I rarely used my employee discount at the book or music store because I preferred to get my books and music elsewhere. An exception would be buying gifts for people, of course. So those are my thoughts as a past employee. I would still consider the free movies to be a much bigger bonus than the discounts or free rentals.

hey hey hey, lets not say things we can't take back!
i just pretty much said how friendship will prevail over all! i wasn't saying i still get mine...okay, yea maybe i was saying i do, but only if truly in hard times...we all could get the discount...just ask them and they'll do it!...i was saying i could, but know its a bit more difficult for them to be nice to us.....
i'm starting to feel betrayed.....
i propose a tower and crest vs. worm challenge.....air hockey maybe?

okay okay, i don't mean that...but i would smoke everyone at air hockey.

i know we don't get paid well...i kinda addressed that.....i know we don't get many tips....but come on everyone...we still have a really lax job....we work with good people....we get to do nothing...if any job deserves minimum wage it's this one....i'm not saying that i wouldn't like more money...i would! fuck yeah i would, but you know...whatev....maybe we should focus on getting the raises we were promised at our employee meeting a few months ago?!?! lets find out whats what!

Now to the more pressing issue at hand...

AFFECT = verb
EFFECT = noun

So, you were right the first time.
