Yay, my hangover is subsiding. I thought I was gonna chuke on the train. Yes, I said train, I am back in the Amtrak saddle. Yesterday I cheated death on my way to the station when I was almost hit by a bus. I already filed a report with the city about that. Then, on the way home I was held up for 40 minutes by a brush fire. Is there anything more civilized than getting a beer on the train?
The show last night was fun. I collected for the bands for a while and the Natural Light had loosened my tongue perhaps too much, because when someone would give me a dollar I'd say "wow, a whole dollar" and people didn't seem to appreciate that. One very well dressed couples with extensive tattooing (which I'm pretty sure is not free) each gave me a dollar. One guy gave me fifty cents. A couple of people said they had nothing at all, and that was more believable to me than that you can only afford a dollar. Plenty of people kicked in a lot, though, so it evened out. I sound like a jerk griping about this, and I felt like a jerk later. A Natural Light jerk.
I'm going to be out doing some dayraging tomorrow so I probably won't post. There's a helluva lot going on this weekend. Lizards stuff, a ridic Ohsees show that hopefully won't get busted. Secoond saturday. There's a SNR release party tonight at Bows and Arrows that starts at 6 with Dead Western and free drinks and free elderly pugs. Warm Streams is having a CD release on friday with MOM at Javalounge (MOM was amazing last night, although I was outside collecting for most of it)
58 degrees is having a great sale on French wines for Bastille day that starts today, but I don't see it listed on their website. It's something like 15% off? A good time to splurge on a good bottle of champagne, maybe.

Was this at the Eat Skull show?
Yesterday, I too was almost hit by a vehicle! I almost got hit by a car in the Sac City Parking lot trying to find a permit machine in the 106 degree heat (all broken). Some girl was on her damn cell phone.
A bus is much worse though.
How was the show?
yeah, eat skull. it was good. i didn't watch "my whole hand..." cuz I was outside. Ganglians were awesome, Eat Skull were lively and fun. The show next week should be even better.
i almost got hit by a car yesterday too. some lady was pullin' the old i-only-look-out-for-traffic-cyclists-shmyclists(?) maneuver. i should seriously just get a helmet.
as for the freeloaders i like dude with the purple fanny pack who wouldn't cough it up. i guess pestering people is kinda douche-y but it's also kinda douche-y to want to go to a show and not expect to pay anything at all. i do realize that i'm calling the kettle black here though as i showed up a dollar short of $5.
live music isn't free.
I'm all for being a total prick about collecting for touring bands. What's the worst thing someone'll do if you pester them, shout "Well I NEVER!" and storm out of the party?

Speaking of touring bands... Potatoe Famine from Salem, Oregon is coming to The Stag this Saturday, and The Stag had the idea of having my band, Boyfriendz, be the local draw. BUT, we don't have a local draw because we've only played five shows, so if you're into supporting touring bands come to The Stag this Saturday at 9. There's also one dollar beers! If you're not into supporting local bands, come support Danny Offer as he play bass with us. That's four bass players in five shows for those keeping score. Thanks for reading!

Being back in Davis for the summer, I realize how much easier it is to bike here. I haven't been yelled at yet from some SUV or truck like I was almost weekly in Sac.
how was the show at the Stag?
