Whose alley is this up?

So there's that show at the Hub on Sunday night with Bare Wires and Nacho Business. Just listen to a tune or two from Bare Wires. If it's up your alley you'll know it in your bones. Coasting is headlining? Is it the drummer from Vivian girls? Here's a video:

There's a Saturday night art event, and it's not on the dreaded Second Saturday. It's a bunch of cute kids putting on a show. I had to look up the address even though I lived in the house for years. Senior moment. Here's a video with the details. Heckamax is going to play and Lil Maxwell, too.

Also, on Sunday night, starting at 10 pm on channel 6, some Verge artist's artwork will be auctioned off as part of the KVIE benefit auction. On air personality Liv Moe will be handling some of the auctioning duties. Can a spot on Good Morning Sacramento be far behind? Works by our friends Joel and Hillary will be auctioned at 1030 pm and 11 pm. I don't think I get that channel so I will be watching Criminal Minds. J.K. I will try to watch.

on the poster I saw at the Hub it said something about the vivian girls or part of the vivian girls or something. So, I think there's some sort of connection?

Yeah, Ali recently quit Viv Girls to drum for Best Coast & the girl in Coasting is the new drummer.

I am embarrassed to admit that I just figured out that when you write 'J.K.' you mean 'just kidding.' All this time I'd thought you were making remarks specifically directed at someone with the initials JK.

Quote of the day in the Bee about Bistro 33 closing: "The ultra lounge thing is dead and we're rolling with the changes." Entertaining because they mostly seem to be moving on from one outdated/never relevant marketing buzzword to a new one.

Also lazy question for the Interwebs, but who would be a good contact for public affairs programming at KDVS? I am thinking more along the lines of shows like "This Week in Science" than "Live From Studio A."

A bicycling-themed burger bar? Oh man, way to rip of Hot Italian, which is a pretty questionable theme to begin with. Any restaurant that starts with a corporate focus-grouped theme is ultimately doomed to fail. It may coast along for a while on hype and glitz, but it will fail because no one ever truly passionately loves any restaurant like that.

Wait, you weren't talking to me this whole time???

"The ultra-lounge is dead"

R.I.P. made-up thing.

and welcome to the world cycling burger bar! i can't wait for some PR person to declare that you are dead in 5 years. that's "public relations" not "puerto rican", foster.

One Speed also has a bike theme. Did they also rip off Hot Italian?

who knows who's zooming who? the read question is what do biking and eating have to do with each other?

I don't mind a bike theme if it were some place like the late great Deux Gros Nes. But that's because they had good cooks and Tim Healion runs the Tour de Nes.

Maybe someone should pick up on the "the ultra lounge is dead" theme, along with the dying fad of zombie movies, and start the first "Ultra Zombie Lounge."

You could call it the "Zombie Hut."

Speaking of dead horses, tomorrow morning at 9 AM is the big meeting about Second Saturday, at the Hart Senior Center at 27th and J across from Harlow's. Odds are none of you will be there, because either you will still be asleep and hung over, or you won't read this until you get back to work on Monday. But I thought I would mention it just in case.
